| The
on-going negotiations between the WilliamsF1 team and Ralf Schumacher
regarding any extension of his contract beyond its current expiry date seem
to have come down to the issue of money.
It
appears that the WilliamsF1 team, looking at maintaining continuity with at
least one driver, wants Ralf to say but that his salary must be acceptable.
It has come down to what Ralf wants and what the WilliamsF1 team is prepared
to pay.
In an interview with the BBC team boss Frank Williams said that Ralf's
contract will be reviewed around mid-2004.Williams said: "Ralf is our
preferred choice."
Williams added: "Once the second half of the season is underway we will see
where we are in the championship and get back to fighting over the money."
Ralf had previously
denied that delay in settling the negotiations had anything to do with money.
Ralf's manager Willi Weber said that the problems were over Ralf's personal
sponsors.
As for finding a replacement for Juan Pablo
Williams said that there was no rush to fill the position.
"We'll look at everybody. We've got a list of people that we're looking at,"
he added. One driver who is in the running is former WilliamsF1 driver Jenson Button,
even though Williams would not comment on the possibility. |
