The BMW WilliamsF1 team completed their final day of testing at the Jerez
circuit. The team tested with four drivers today, Ralf Schumacher and Marc
Gene were joined by Nelson Piquet Jnr. and Nico Rosberg, as the team
continued to evaluate the young drivers. The
weather would hinder the team as there were showers during the day with only
a small window in which the team was able to get any dry weather running.
But at least the team was able to test Michelin's wet weather tyres. Both
Ralf and Marc worked through various tyre designs and compounds. Given the conditions the lap times been set were off those that the team had previously achieved, with Ralf fastest on the first two days of testing. Ralf would finish the day with a best lap time of 1m:26.976 after completing sixty nine laps. Gene would be ahead of Ralf with a best lap time of 1m:26.957, covering seventy six laps. Nico
Rosberg and Nelson Piquet Jnr. would share the third WilliamsF1 BMW FW25. On
the day Piquet would come out on top of Nico, competing forty six laps with
a best time of 1m:28.640. Rosberg would run in the afternoon, where the
conditions were wetter than in the morning. Nico would complete thirty laps
with a best lap time of 1m:30.262.The WilliamsF1 team said that both drivers had performed well. Chief Operations engineer Sam Michael said: "Nelson and Nico did a good job and worked well with the team, as well as showing themselves to be technically competent." |
