| In an
interview for the BBC WilliamsF1 Technical Director Patrick Head made it
clear that the WilliamsF1 team would not assist McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen
fight with Ferrari's Michael Schumacher for the 2003 Drivers Championship. When questioned over whether or not WilliamsF1 would assist McLaren Head said: "You know team orders are banned this year. So we would never do anything like that." As for how championship leader Michael Schumacher views the situation Michael told the media that he felt the two teams have very different priorities in Japan. WilliamsF1 is looking at the constructors title while McLaren wants Kimi to win the drivers title. Michael said: "I don't think that Williams and McLaren will work together against us as they have different objectives: Williams want the constructors' title and McLaren the drivers, and we want both." As for what was required to overtake Ferrari for the constructors tile Head did not feel that Ferrari's three point lead was that big. Head added: "There are 18 points on the table for first and second so three points is not that big a gap. "I think we are in a reasonably strong position, we've got some developments available for the car but then I'm sure Ferrari are in the same position. The Ferrari is normally extremely reliable, or Michael's car is anyway. But then we've been so far quite reliable as well so I think all is on the table to go for in terms of the Constructors' Championship." |
