WilliamsF1 team completed their Jerez test with Antonio Pizzonia and Marc
Gené continuing the teams preparations for the Japanese GP. Withe the Toyota team having completed their testing on Friday the WilliamsF1 team was the only one present on the Saturday. As was the case on the first two days the team had to cope with a wet track. The team was to take the opportunity to test the Michelin wet weather tyres. They were also able to continue their work on the set up for Suzuka, focusing on chassis, tyre and aero development testing. Pizzonia would complete seventy eight laps, with a best lap time of 1m:17.853. Team-mate Marc Gene would complete ninety four laps, with a best lap time of 1m:18.255. Marc spent a large part of his time testing different Michelin tyres, working through eight new sets of tyres during the day. Tim Newton, Williams test team Manager, commented on the final days testing: "We had another productive day today with Marc Gene and Antonio Pizzonia running the FW25s. Marc completed a race distance as well as doing some long stints on track testing tyres and set up configurations for Suzuka. After several months out of the cockpit, Antonio spent the morning familiarising himself with the car before spending the rest of the session testing various set up options for Japan." |
