Jerez Test 03:10:2003 Day Three of Four

The third day of testing at the Jerez circuit would see the return of former WilliamsF1 test driver Brazilian Antonio Pizzonia, replacing Ralf Schumacher. He was joined by test driver Marc Gene.

The day would see both drivers work through their scheduled test program, in preparation for the Japanese Grand Prix. After having to cope with changeable conditions in the first two days of testing the track was sunny, warm and dry.

Pizzonia would set the fastest time of the day, and this would be the fastest time of the week. He would complete eighty eight laps, with a best time of 1m:18.818. He would test some improvements concerning the launch control system on the FW25.

As ever he was backed up by Marc Gene who would complete one hundred & twenty three laps, with his personal fastest lap 1m:19.322. Marc tested the new BMW P84 engine for the 2004 season and completed a successful GP simulation for the BMW WilliamsF1 Team.

The WilliamsF1 have been running for three days and will wind up their testing tomorrow. Pizzonia will again be present.

Tim Newton, WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager commented on the days testing:
"We had another productive day today with Marc Gene and Antonio Pizzonia running the FW25s. Marc completed a race distance as well as doing some long stints on track testing tyres and set up configurations for Suzuka. After several months out of the cockpit, Antonio spent the morning familiarising himself with the car before spending the rest of the session testing various set up options for Japan."
