| In a
continuation of the issue of Michelin's front tyres WilliamsF1 Chief Operations
Engineer, Sam Michael, has rejected any suggestions coming from
representatives from the
Ferrari team that the Michelin tyres the WilliamsF1 team use have been illegal this season.
Michael said: "The FIA have changed their interpretation and will now measure front tyres when old as well as new. It is important to clarify that Michelin tyres have never been illegal." As for the teams future options Michael added that the WilliamsF1 team and Michelin had been testing a new tyre casing and compound, stating the team will be ready for the Italian Grand Prix next week. Michael added: "At the Monza test, we have made good progress on casings and compounds as part of our normal long term development programme. As a result of the progress we have made together with Michelin this week, we will be bringing good improvements to the tyres for the Italian Grand Prix." Williams are currently leading the Constructors' Championship by eight points ahead of Ferrari. |
