The final qualifying would see Ralf and Juan Pablo finish second and
fourth on the grid. Both drivers came away from the session confident of
their chances come the race. For both of them it was satisfying in that
their championship rivals are behind them on the grid with championship
leader Michael Schumacher down in eighth.
On a track where it is difficult to pass their grid positions give Ralf and Juan Pablo a big advantage. The only negative aspect of their grid positions is that both will start on the dirty side of the grid. The session would not see Ralph Firman take to the track as been involved in a heavy crash earlier in the day. Zsolt Baumgartner will take his place. It will be Zsolt who would take to the track first setting a time of 1m:26.678.
