The British GP would see Jenson Button starting from the back of the grid, after his failure to set a time in qualifying. The start would see Trulli leading with McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen in second. Barrichello was third with Ralf in fourth. Michael Schumacher was in fifth and he was under attack from Alonso.

MontoyaDavid Coulthard was up in ninth, while Montoya would pass Alonso for sixth. Sauber's Frentzen was running last after failing to get away at the start. Trulli would lead the race into lap two with Raikkonen now 1.1 seconds down, Barrichello just 1.1 seconds behind Raikkonen. But Rubens would set the fastest lap with a time of 1m:22.855.

By lap six Rubens would be right behind Raikkonen, after having dropped Ralf and Michael Schumacher. Are Trulli and Barrichello running light on fuel? But the safety car would come out due to some small pieces of carbon fibre chassis on Copse. The McLaren team would be out in the pit lane. David Coulthard and Cristiano da Matta would pit, with Coulthard having his head-rest replaced. Coulthard would lose some 28 seconds.

Lap seven and the field is bunched up behind the safety car. The next lap it would pull in and Trulli would lead the race. Juan Pablo was pressing Michael very hard after the restart. Rubens was slow at the restart while Jaguar's Pizzonia would pull into the pits. Raikkonen trails Trulli by 0.7secs, with Barrichello the same amount behind Kimi.

Ralf SchumacherBAR's Jenson Button was now up to eleventh. Coulthard had dropped to eighteenth. Lap nine and Rubens would set the fastest lap, a 1m:22.719, while the top six drivers were covered by just five seconds. The next lap and Rubens would pass Raikkonen going into Abbey. Raikkonen would now start to fall back towards Ralf and Michael Schumacher. Villeneuve was now in eighth. Lap twelve and Rubens would open up a lead but the safety car would come back out again and everyone would take the opportunity to pit. The safety car was due to a man been out on the track. Simply incredible!

It was a  demonstrator wearing a Scottish kilt and brandishing protest placards that took to the track. Lap fourteen and Da Matta was leading the race from Panis. Coulthard is third with Trulli fourth, Raikkonen fifth and Ralf sixth. Michael was down in fourteenth. Having made his early pitstop was a big advantage for Coulthard.

Lap fifteen and the race would restart with Da Matta leading. Raikkonen would pass Trulli moving into fourth. He would quickly pass his team-mate while Rubens had moved into seventh. Juan Pablo was back in ninth. Lap sixteen and Kimi would pass Panis while the next lap Rubens would pass Ralf for sixth.

FW25Raikkonen would close in on Da Matta while Juan Pablo was lining up to pass Ralf. He would pass Ralf on lap eighteen. Rubens would close in on Trulli. Ralf Schumacher would pit making a second stop, taking on new tyres. he would return in last position. Lap twenty one and Da Matta would still lead while Michael Schumacher was down in thirteenth. Juan Pablo was right behind Rubens in seventh. Michael would go off, but was able to recover and was with Jenson Button.

Lap twenty seven and Juan Pablo would pass Trulli for sixth going into Stowe. Rubens was in fifth. Da Matta would continue to lead the race from Raikkonen. Coulthard would pit the next lap. Alonso was the quickest man on the track. By lap thirty Michael was still not able to pass Villeneuve for eleventh. Juan Pablo and Rubens would both pass Panis as he slowed with a problem. Team-mate Da Matta would pit and he would be joined by Panis, dropping from sixth, on lap thirty one. Michael would finally pass Villeneuve

Ralf SchumacherBarrichello would now try and close the 9.5 seconds lead that Raikkonen had. He would set a new fastest lap, 1m:22.622, as he closed in on the McLaren. Trulli and Alonso were running together in fourth and fifth. Lap thirty four and Pizzonia would retire with smoke coming from his engine, pulling off the track. On the same lap Raikkonen would pit, stopping for 9.8secs. Barrichello was now leading from Juan Pablo and Trulli. Trulli and Heidfeld would stop, Alonso moving into third. lap thirty eight and both Juan Pablo Montoya and Alonso would stop. The Renault would stall seeing him delayed in his stop, returning in twelfth. The next lap and it would be Rubens turn to pit with Raikkonen moving back into the lead. Ralf would pit from eighth.

Lap forty one and Michael Schumacher would pit from fourth. At the front and it would be Rubens pressuring Kimi and on lap forty two the Brazilian would pass the Finn going through Bridge, forcing Kimi wide, and would quickly pull away from the McLaren. Lap forty five and Fisichella would limp back to the pits with a suspension problem. By lap forty eight Ruben's had opened up a lead of 5.2secs over Raikkonen. Michael was now attacking Trulli for fifth.

MontoyaMontoya would pass Raikkonen when the Finn ran wide and by lap fifty Rubens would be in the lead by nine seconds from Juan Pablo. Michael was in fourth while Coulthard would pass Da Matta for sixth. Lap fifty three and Alonso would retire on the main straight. With six laps remaining Barrichello's margin over Juan Pablo was eight seconds. With five laps remaining Barrichello was leading Juan Pablo by 7.8 seconds. Juan Pablo would reduce the lead 6.3 seconds but with the small number of laps remaining Rubens was able to ease off. Coulthard would continue to chases Trulli for fifth.

David would finally pas Trulli, round the outside of Stowe but it would be Barrichello who would win the 2003 British Grand Prix, with Juan Pablo second and Raikkonen third. Michael would salvage a fourth while brother Ralf was down in ninth after his extra pitstop. It was a race that saw Barrichello claim his first win of the season, the BMW WilliamsF1 team secure its fifth podium finish in a row, and Kimi Raikkonen would take a single point out of Michael Schumacher's lead in the Drivers' Championship.
