| The second
day of testing for the BMW WilliamsF1 team would see the team joined by
eight other teams.
Ralf would take his place and by the end of the day would have set the
fastest time. He was joined by Marc Gene in second.
The session would see some
light showers but these would not disrupt the days testing.
Ralf Schumacher
would continue to show the from that has seen him winning the last two Grand
Prix by setting the fastest time of the day. He would complete ninety seven
laps altogether without any problems. Ralf carried out setup work and tyre
testing.
Marc Gené also was able to work through his test program, finishing second
after completing eighty nine laps. In the morning Marc focused on testing
aerodynamic components, while in the afternoon he would concentrate on tyre
evaluation tests.
Both Ralf and Marc were able
to set times well ahead of those of Ferrari and McLaren.
WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager, Tim Newton: “It is only two days until the
impending test ban takes effect and we have plenty to get through, but today
was productive. Ralf and Marc completed useful mileage and maintained
station at the top of the time sheets.
There has been a high pressure system over Spain for some time, and today we
had a typical high temperature, high humidity outlook but thankfully it only
rained once briefly this afternoon and our progress was not impeded.“ |
