Close the gap

For the BMW WilliamsF1 team Juan Pablo Montoya's victory at last weekends Monaco Grand Prix was the result that the team had been working hard to achieve since the start of the 2003 season.

The result would see the team move into third in the constructors championship but there is still a long way to go before they can move past McLaren and Ferrari. This is a fact that is not lost on any of the team members, including WilliamsF1 Technical Director Patrick Head. The team can not rest on its laurels but must continuingly work towards improving the performance of the FW25 and that of the team.

Head, on the BMW Motorsport website said: “Yes, it was very satisfying, but in our business you never stop, you always start thinking about the next challenge at once. Still, I really think it was a brilliant race."

“Of course we are motivated for each GP, but this victory will be a big help.”

As for the Canadian Grand Prix, and the chances for the team, Head added: “We should be competitive there again. Indeed I don’t see any reason why this shouldn’t be the case. And it would be really great should we be able to win the second race in a row. To be honest we will have to score some big points to close the gap to the leaders.”
