Issues over teams authority

In order to clarify the reasons for the delays in BMW and WilliamsF1 reaching an agreement over an extension of their partnership WilliamsF1 Technical Director Patrick Head has said that the reasons for the delays come from issues regarding the WilliamsF1 teams "authority" covering certain aspects of the car.

Even though both BMW and WilliamsF1 were delighted with Juan Pablo's victory in Monaco they will not have any affect on the resolution of talks over the future partnership with BMW.

Head said: "A requirement of any extension to the agreement is that we work closer together but we are already doing that to a certain extent. In truth, any racing team that works with a major manufacturer and does not work together is not going to be successful and we are more likely to be successful if BMW had a more permanent presence at Grove.

"But we can't be limited. Adding people is fine but removing our authority for areas on the car other than the engine is something we are not prepared to accept."

based on these comments it would appear that there is till some way before the parties reach any agreement.
