Still a way to go

This weekends San Marino Grand Prix would see the BMW WilliamsF1 team come away with fourth and seventh place finishes. But despite the encouraging turn of speed that the FW25 had in the lead up to the race it still failed to deliver come the race.

Even team head Frank Williams has admitted that the team has still a long way to go before it returns to the days when it was a team that regularly saw its drivers on the podium.

For Williams there is still considerable work to be done on the FW25 and these developments should see improvements in the second half of the season.

Williams commented on the teams difficulties by saying: "It's not a matter of switching on a light and suddenly it's all there. It takes time. We can't cope with running at the front at the moment but maybe we will by the end of the year.

"We're pretty quick but we're not there yet, even though I think we'll have a much more competitive second half of the season thanks to the work the whole team is doing."

The biggest problem that the team has is that they should be beating their main rivals Ferrari and McLaren now, while these teams still are running their 2002 cars. Once these teams introduce their 2003 cars things may get even harder for the WilliamsF1 team
