Jerez Test 13:03:2003 Day Two of Three

With another fine day the BMW WilliamsF1 team again took to the track at Jerez for the second day of testing, again with Marc Gene carrying out the driving duties.

In a day that would see Marc complete an extensive series of tests with the new FW25 the team would come away with "some useful insights" into the new car. Mind you Marc would find parts of his day sitting in the garage as the team worked on fixing problems with the car.

The day would see Marc focus on testing setups and tyres, but with the Spaniard completing several long runs in the car. he would complete seventy one laps by the end of the day and would set a best lap time of 1m:19.778, finishing the third fastest driver..

Again the fastest driver was Toyota's Cristiano de Matta, with all the other drivers present lining up in the same order as on day one. This would be Marc's final day of testing at Jerez prior to Ralf Schumacher taking his place.

Tim Newton, WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager, commented on the days testing: "Another clear and dry day which let us work through our testing programme. Marc was driving the FW25 01 and we worked through a few problems that kept us in the garage more than we would have liked.

"We did manage to clock up 71 laps and learnt some useful insights. The test included chassis testing and engine work. Tomorrow Ralf will be joining us here in Jerez and we expect a similar forecast."
