| At a time
when the WilliamsF1 team is trying to spend every last minute developing the
new FW25 they again were hampered by wet weather at the Circuit de
Catalunya.
On the third day of testing
the WilliamsF1 drivers could not take to the track until midday, with Juan
Pablo been first out on the track. In such conditions the team could only
hope to learn of the performance of the FW25 is such wet conditions.
At
the end of the day Juan Pablo would be the fastest of the two WilliamsF1
drivers with a best lap time of 1m:30.745, to finish seventh overall one
place ahead of Ralf. He would complete thirty three laps.
For Ralf his day would see him focus on testing the new BMW P83 engine. He
would complete thirty one laps during the day with a best time of 1m:31.456.
The two WilliamsF1 drivers times were far from the fastest time of the day
set by Jaguar's Mark Webber, with a lap of 1m:27.477.
WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager commented: "Due to flooded circuit conditions
we didn't get our test programme away until 11:00am. We have worked through
a planned Michelin wet weather tyre evaluation programme and simultaneously
we have started to learn about the FW25's characteristics in wet conditions
and accumulated some very useful data.
At certain points during he day we were pleased with the car's performance
in the conditions of the moment and we continue upon our learning curve for
this new chassis. Unfortunately rain is forecast for tomorrow morning
hopefully drying in the afternoon." |
