The Williams Racing Team would complete the opening day of their Bahrain pre-season test with Alex Albon carrying out the driving duties for the day. He would finish in fifth after a soft tyre run earlier in the day. He would have a small issue which would see him lose some track time but like so many teams there were the inevitable new car setup issues that the team needs to work through. Day two at Bahrain will be Nicholas Latiif take Alex's place.

Williams’ Racing Alexander Albon would finish the opening day of testing at the Bahrain circuit with the fifth fastest time of the day, despite not improving from his morning effort, as he ran for a total of 104 laps across both sessions. However, Alex had reported a steering issue that would see his morning running come to an end while the hydraulics were checked.

In an interview for williamsf1.com Alex would comment on his day by saying: This day has been a fight, little things but constantly and it hasn't hurt the running too much we have lost maybe twenty laps which is nothing. We need some work to do as honestly there is a lot of lap time that we can get in this car just by having a better balance but its hard to know is it the tyres, is it the car, the stiffness of the car. There are a few things we need to check in these last few days if we can get that sorted out we will be fine and yeah its windy too as wind plays a big part in the feeling of the car but we can't be too sad and Nicky will be in the car tomorrow and the boys will fix it and yeah we will see.

Alex kind of bears out what i feel from reading between the lines then.

We are not there yet and i think the raw pace is not there yet on this car.

Lots to do to get this car balanced and consistant to releace some more pace.

[b]Brundle might have been on to something when he said the front and rear suspension
did not seem in harmony working togethe Yesterday ??
