Team Summary:
The start of the second Friday practice session would see Raikkonen first
out using the hard tyre but he would be followed by a large number of tyres
with the overall majority on the medium tyre. As the first times came in it
would ne Bottas quickest with a time of 1m:25.339 followed by Sainz and
Perez. But on the soft tyre Norris was now quickest but Hamilton would move
ahead with 1m:25.127. Bottas was third followed by Sainz, Verstappen, Perez,
Leclerc and Ocon eighth. The Williams cars were currently 17th and 18th.
Leclerc was now third followed by Bottas and Sainz. Verstappen was second
but would have his lap time deleted dropping to eighth as a result. Bottas
would make contact with the barrier seeing him pit while after their first
runs the Williams drivers were currently 18th and 19th.
The order was Hamilton from Verstappen, Ocon, Norris, Ricciardo, Leclerc,
Sainz, Alonso, Bottas and Perez tenth. But Bottas would jump up to second
and Ricciardo third. Now drivers would start to return for soft tyre runs.
On the soft tyre Alonso was now second but Bottas would move ahead also
using the soft tyre. But Alonso's time would be deleted seeing Ocon third.
Leclerc was now fourth but Alonso would recover to be fourth ahead of
Leclerc and Tsunoda. Bottas was now quickest with a time of 1m:24.083 with
Hamilton only second. Ocon would set a 1m:24.034 to be quickest ahead of
Bottas. Hamilton was third followed by Verstappen, Perez, Alonso, Tsunoda,
Leclerc, Sainz and Gasly tenth.
But Hamilton would return to the top of the times with a 1m:23.691 from Ocon
and Bottas. The Williams pair were currently 17th and 18th as drivers worked
on longer runs. Quite a few drivers were using the soft tyre including
Verstappen. But as the session drew to a close Raikkonen would crash at Turn
14. He would ay he lost the rear of his car. He would heavily damage his car
with the fact that the session had finished quite lucky. The top ten would
be Hamilton, Ocon, Bottas, Verstappen, Perez, Alonso, Tsunoda, Leclerc,
Sainz and Gasly tenth. For Williams they would finish their Friday practice
in 17th and 18th. Again it would seem that the FW43B is struggling to find
pace at this track. Currently the second slowest car ahead of the Haas but
hopefully they can find pace in their overnight assessments.
George Russell:
George would get his first run of the day having been replaced by Jack
Aitken in FP1. George would be first out in the second Friday session using
the medium tyre. George would set 1m:27.767 to currently be 18th. Even with
a 1m:27.362 to be 19th. He would pit after a seven lap run. With forty
minutes remaining George would return and would set a 1m:26.607 to be 17th
using the soft tyre. But his next flying lap would see a 1m:25.549 to be
13th dropping to 14th. This would become 17th as he pitted after a seven lap
run. He would return for a short run on the soft tyre then switching to the
medium. He would complete the session using the medium tyre completing 13
laps.
Nicholas Latifi:
Nicholas would follow his team-mate out except was on the medium tyre.
Nicholas would set a 1m:27.337 to be 17th. His next timed lap would see him
set a 1m:26.883 to remain 17th. Nicholas would have an off ending up
backwards into the barrier. His rear wing would make contact seeing him
forced to pit to have the matter investigated. he had completed six laps on
the medium tyre. In his pit he would drop to 20th. With just under thirty
minutes remaining Nicholas would return this time on the soft tyre. He would
set a 1m:25.687 to be 18th one place behind his team-mate. Nicholas would
pit after a five lap run. He would return on used medium tyres with under
fifteen minutes remaining. But he would pit switching to the soft tyre. With
the end of the session he would complete ten laps on the soft tyre. |
