Team Summary:
With close to ten minutes of the session completed the Williams drivers
would come out for their first runs but at this time Ricciardo was quickest
with a qm1;26.727 followed by Verstappen and Bottas. All three were on the
hard tyre. Being a new track the times would rapidly change with Verstappen
going quickest with a 1m:25.669 followed by Ricciardo and Ocon. But Bottas
then Norris would go quicker while the Williams drivers were 19th and 20th but
one would move up to 18th and the other 11th. As more times were set this
would become 14th and 20th. At the front Verstappen had set a 1m:24.998 now
followed by Norris, Bottas, Hamilton, Gasly, Leclerc, Ocon, Ricciardo, Sainz
and Tsunoda tenth.
The Alpine cars were on the soft tyre and were 7th and 16th with Ocon the
faster. The Williams cars were currently 12th and 18th. With thirty six
minutes remaining the track would clear as drivers came in after their first
runs. With soft tyre runs coming it would be Bottas quickest with a
1m:24.194 ahead of Tsunoda and Verstappen. Norris was fourth followed by
Ricciardo, Vettel, Hamilton, Gasly, Leclerc, and Nicholas. The other
Williams was now 14th. Verstappen would go quicker with a 1m:23.723 followed
by Bottas and Hamilton. Tsunoda was now fourth followed now by Gasly, Perez,
Leclerc, Norris, Sainz and Ricciardo now tenth. The Williams pair were 13th
and 16th.
Gasly would move in to second as the session came to an end. The final order
would be Verstappen followed by Gasly, Bottas, Hamilton, Tsunoda, Sainz,
Leclerc, Perez, Ocon, and Norris tenth. For Williams their drivers were 13th
and 16th. A positive start to the Qatar weekend for Williams.
George Russell:
George would follow his team-mate out except he would sue the hard for his
first run. George would set a 1m:32.253 on a slow opening lap. He would set
a 1m:30.969 but this would see him slowest. Even with a 1m:29.135 he would
remain slowest. A 1m:27,557 would see George 18th. He would return on the
soft tyre now in 19th. George would set a 1m:26.074 to move up to 15th. A
1m:26.025 would see him move up to 14th. But he would dropt o 16th now back
in the pits after a seven lap run. He would return this time on hard tyres
currently 16th. With the end of the session George would remain 16th after a
five lap run on the hard tyre.
Nicholas Latifi:
Nicholas would be first out in the opening Friday practice session running
on the medium. His first lap was a 1m:30.486 to be 16th. He would drop to
19th but with a 1m:27.385 would see him 11th dropping to 13th. A 1m:26.493
from Nicholas would see him 11th. He would pit after a six lap run currently
13th. Nicholas would return this time on the soft tyre and would set a
1m:26.197 to be 10th. He would set a 1m:26.036 but he would drop to 13th
even so. But a 1m:25.688 would see him 10th. He would pit briefly having a
completed a seven lap run. Having completed his practice pit stop he would
pit with eighteen minutes remaining. With ten minutes remaining Nicholas
would return this time on used medium tyres. He was currently 13th and with
the end of the session had completed seven laps on the medium. |
