Team Summary:
With the start of the only Friday practice session given that it is a Sprint
format weekend the Williams drivers would be the last to take to the track.
On the medium we would see Verstappen quickest with a 1m:11.482 followed by
Perez, Ocon, Hamilton, Bottas, and Alonso sixth. As the times improved
Verstappen would set a 1m:10.189 to remain fastest with Bottas now second
followed by Perez, Gasly, Hamilton, Alonso, Ocon, Tsunoda, Sainz and Leclerc
tenth. After their first runs the Williams pair were 11th and 12th. Hamilton
was now second ahead of Perez. Bottas was now fourth but Ocon would take
this spot. Both Williams drivers were now 13th and 14th.
Perez would return to be second followed by Hamilton and Ocon. Bottas was
now fifth followed by Vettel, Gasly, Alonso, Stroll and Sainz. The top three
times were all on the medium but Ocon on fourth was on the hard joined by
Vettel, Alonso, Stroll and Sainz. The Williams pair were now 14th and 15th.
Vettel was sixth with tem-mate Stroll now seventh followed by Gasly, Alonso,
and Sainz tenth. With thirty minutes remaining both Williams had pitted as
we saw Sainz now in third. The Williams cars were still 14th and 15th.
Leclerc would jump into second as we saw drivers start their first soft tyre
runs including both Red Bull and Haas cars. Verstappen would improve with a
1m:09.417 with Perez also in the 1m:09s. The Williams drivers had now
dropped to 18th and 19th but yet to use the soft tyre. Bottas was out on the
soft tyre and would move up to third ahead of Leclerc. The Williams pair had
dropped to be slowest. The McLaren pair were now 10th and 11th. On the soft
tyre Hamilton would move into third. After their soft tyre runs the Williams
pair were now 12th and 14th. the would dropt o 15th and 16th as other soft
tyre times were set a s we saw Hamilton quickest with a 1m:09.348 using the
soft tyre.
The Williams pair were now 17th and 18th as they both pitted. Hamilton would
improve with a 1m:09.050 to remain quickest. Verstappen was second followed
by Perez, Bottas, Sainz, Leclerc, Ocon, Alonso, Stroll and Vettel tenth.
Tsunoda was able to move into tenth as the session came to an end. The
Williams pair would remain 17th and 18th with the end. So with the end of
the session Hamilton was quickest from the Red Bull's of Verstappen and
Perez. It had been confirmed that Hamilton had taken a new ICE which would
see him take a penalty in Sundays race.
George Russell:
George would be quite late coming out with ten minutes of the session
completed also using the medium. He would set a 1m:13.200 to be 11th.This
would become 12th as he pitted after a five lap run. He would return for
another run remaining on the medium. After a nine lap run he would pit. With
fifteen minutes remaining he would return on the soft tyre and would set a
1m:10.9389 to be 12th. He would drop to 13th as he saw his team-mate go
faster. This would become 14th. Now in 18th George would pit after a nine
lap run on the soft tyre remaining in this position with the session end.
Nicholas Latifi:
Nicholas would be the first Williams to take to the Interlagos circuit
running on the medium. Nicholas would set a 1m:14.216 to be 14th dropping to
15th. He would improve with a 1m:13.465 to now be 11th. He would drop to
12th behind his team-mate. He would also pit now 13th after a seven lap run.
He would return for a second run retaining the medium tyre. He would pit
after a ten lap run. With just over ten minutes remaining Nicholas would
return this time on the soft tyre and would set a 1m:10.902 to be 11th. This
would become 13th to be right in front of his team-mate. He would pit after
a six lap run currently 17th. With the end of the session this is where he
would remain. |
