Team Summary:
With rain falling the final Saturday practice would commence with not many
looking to come out early, even though the teams had been given an extra set
of intermediate tyres for the session. But with ten minutes completed the
only cars that had run were the two AlphaTauri's. More cars all on the wet
tyre would start to come out including both Haas and McLaren cars. Gasly
would set a 1mm:39.988 followed by Tsunoda. Both Ferrari's and Aston Martins
were also running as Norris went quickest with a 1m:38.395 now followed by
Ricciardo.
Sainz was now quickest with a 1m:37.608 followed by Norris, Leclerc, and
Ricciardo. But the weather had started to improve seeing drivers pit and
change to the intermediate tyre. Leclerc was now second as Norris ran on the
intermediate. Everyone had switched to the intermediate tyre including both
Williams cars. Both we would have the session Red Flagged when George would
spin his car at Turn Two beaching it in the gravel. But the car would be
cleared and the session would restart. Sainz was still quickest from
Ricciardo, Norris, Leclerc, Raikkonen, Tsunoda and Gasly. But it would
changes as Bottas went quickest with a 1m:34.736 only to see Vettel then
Hamilton go faster with Hamilton setting a 1m:33.636. Giovinazzi was now
second and Raikkonen third. But Verstappen would move to the top of the
times with a 1m:32.464 now followed by Bottas and Hamilton.
Vettel was now third followed by Alonso, Hamilton, Perez, Ocon, and
Giovinazzi eighth. Verstappen would join the list of drivers having a spin
at various places around the circuit. Gasly was now third as the track
improved. Bottas set a 1m:31.996 with Ocon in second. But quickly the order
would change with Verstappen set a 1m:31.043 to be quickest now followed by
Leclerc and Sainz. Raikkonen was now fourth followed by Gasly, Bottas,
Vettel, Perez, Ocon and Ricciardo now tenth. Gasly would improve to be
second with just under twenty minutes remaining.
Perez would move to the top of the times with a 1m:30.684 followed by
Verstappen and Gasly. The only Williams to have set a time was 19th. Gasly
was now fastest with a 1m:30.447 as the session drew to a close. As the
final ten minutes commenced the track would clear with only a few cars
running. As the final minutes started more drivers would return looking to
complete practice race starts. With the end of the session Gasly would be
quickest followed by Verstappen, Perez, Sainz, Leclerc, Alonso, Raikkonen,
Tsunoda, Bottas and Ocon tenth. The very limited running the Williams cars
were 19th and 20th. A session that was hard to assess given the low number
of laps completed by both George and Nicholas. Now it is very much a case of
what is the track going to be like for qualifying.
Nicholas Latifi:
Nicholas would be first out for Williams running on the intermediate. he
would pit as a result of his team-mate brining out a Red Flag but with the
restart he would return still on the intermediate. He would set a 1m:35.681
to be 16th. He would pit after a three lap run. With just the final minute
remaining Nicholas would return to complete a practice pit stop. He would
finish the session in 19th.
George Russell:
George would follow his team-mate out also using the intermediate tyre. But
George would have a spin at Turn Two going off and into the gravel where he
would become stuck enduing his running. George would return to his pit and
after a short wait so would his car. He would not do any further running in
the session and as such was last in the times. |
