Team Summary:
For the opening Friday practice session the Williams Racing Team would
replace Russell with reserve driver Nissany. With the start of the hour long
session there would be a queue of cars waiting to come out with Vettel out
first followed by the first of the Williams. More cars would come out
including the second Williams as times were seen. A 1m:37.374 would see
Leclerc quickest on the medium followed by Gasly and Giovinazzi. But Perez
would go quickest only to see Norris and then Sainz move ahead Sainz with a
1m:36.745. Verstappen would set a 1m:35.639 to be quickest ahead of Hamilton
and Sainz.
Gasly was now seventh now ahead of Leclerc and times rapidly changed.
Verstappen would drop to third behind Norris and Sainz quickest. But a
1m:34.139 would see Verstappen move back to the top. Hamilton would return
to second ahead of Sainz, Perez, Norris, Gasly, Ricciardo, Leclerc,
Raikkonen and Tsunoda tenth. Vettel would crash going backwards into the
barrier but he was able to recover and slowly make it bad to his pit. Ocon
and Alonso were now eighth and tenth with Tsunoda ninth. Alonso would
improve to be fifth behind Hamilton who was now fourth. But Hamilton would
set a 1m:33.783 to be quickest running on the soft tyre. The Ferrari's were
now 9th and 11th.
Mazepin on the soft would move in to 17th to be ahead of both Williams.
Bottas was now quickest with a 1m:33.448. Hamilton was now second followed
by Verstappen, Perez, Alonso, Ricciardo, Ocon, Norris, Sainz, and Tsunoda
tenth. After soft tyre runs the Williams pair were 15th and 20th. The top
ten was now Bottas, Hamilton, Verstappen, Perez, Ricciardo, Tsunoda,
Leclerc, Alonso, Giovinazzi and Raikkonen with fifteen minutes remaining in
the session. Norris would improve to be sixth ahead of team-mate Ricciardo.
Gasly would imprve to be sixth behind Alonso. Both Williams drivers were
running currently in 17th and 20th. The session would come to a close with
Bottas remaining fastest from Hamilton, Verstappen, Perez, Ocon, Ricciardo,
Alonso, Gasly, Norris, and Tsunoda tenth.
With the end of the session the Williams racing Team would see their drivers
finish in 17th and 20th with Nicholas leading not unexpectedly Roy. As for
the prospects for the rest of the weekend it will not be until the next
Friday practice session with Russell's return that a true judge will be able
to be made.
Roy Nissany:
Roy would leave the pit lane very early looking forward to maximising his
track time running on the hard tyre. He would pit after a single lap. His
car had been running aero rakes. With ten minutes of the session he would
return this time on the soft tyre. He would set 1m:40.713 to be 17th. He
would improve with a 1m:37.881 but remained 19th. He would pit after a six
lap run and in the pits drops to be slowest. With twelve minutes remaining
Roy would return this time on the hard tyre. Roy would complete seven laps
on the hard tyre as he pitted with the end of the session.
Nicholas Latifi:
Nicholas would come out for his first run using the medium tyre. He would
set a 1m:38.349 to be third but would drop to 8th. This would become tenth
the 12th. A 1m:36.873 would see Nicholas improve to be eighth behind
Hamilton. This would become 12th. He would improve with a 1m:36.829 to be
13th but he would drop to 15th. Nicholas would pit after a seven lap run
dropping to 16th. With just over thirty minutes remaining Nicholas would
return this time running on the soft tyre. He was currently 18th. But an
improved lap of 1m:35.612 to be 11th. This would become 15th as he continued
his soft tyre run. Nicholas would pit after a five lap run now 16th. Ten
minutes remaining and Nicholas would return again on the soft tyre. He would
drop to 17th as the session came to a close pitting after a seven lap run on
the soft tyre. |
