Team Summary:
The final practice session for the 2020 Abu Dhabi Grand prix would commence
but there would not be a rush of drivers coming out as the session is run at
a time of the day that does not match the race or qualifying. Fifteen
minutes into the session and no cars had run on the track. With close to
twenty minutes of the session completed cars started to come out the first
been a Williams followed by both Haas and Alfa Romeo cars all on the soft
tyre. More cars would start their sessions including the second Williams.
Only Norris was on the medium tyre the rest of the field were on the soft. A
Williams would go quickest but Giovinazzi would move ahead with a
1m:39.190. Bottas would be qucikest with a 1m:38.034 followed by Ocon and
Giovinazzi. The Williams drivers would drop down the order was others went
quicker currently 10th and 11th.
Norris was now second behind Albon who was now quickest with a 1m:37.536.
Hamilton would move up to second while Ricciardo and Ocon were fifth and
sixth. Bottas was fourth as Verstappen went quickest with a 1m:37.175 this
would become fifth. The Williams drivers were now 13th and 14th. Albon was
now second followed by Hamilton, Norris, Leclerc, Bottas, Perez, Ricciardo,
Gasly and Ocon tenth. With the first runs completed the Williams drivers
were 16th and 18th. Hamilton would move into second but Verstappen would
improve with a 1m:36.734 0.5 ahead of Hamilton. Both Williams drivers had
pitted. Bottas was now second but Hamilton would move into this spot. After
their second runs the Williams drivers were currently in 7th and 16th.
Leclerc was now in fourth followed by Albon, Vettel, George and Norris.
More qualifying simulations were been completed with Ricciardo and Ocon now
second and third followed by Norris, Hamilton, Stroll, Sainz, Bottas, Albon,
and Kvyat tenth. The Williams drivers were now 14th and 18th. Perez would
move into tenth seeing both Williams drivers lose a place to be 15th and
19th. Albon was able to improve to be second followed by Ricciardo in third.
The session would end with the order been Verstappen, Albon, Ricciardo,
Ocon, Norris, Hamilton, Stroll, Sainz, Bottas and Perez. The Williams
drivers would finish in 15th and 19th. The prospects for qualifying was such
that it was looking encouraging to see one car into Q2 that of George.
Nicholas Latifi:
Nicholas would be the first car out running on the soft tyre. Nicholas would
set a 1m:39.812 to be currently quickest. But as more times were set he
would drop to 11th. This would become 16th with thirty minutes remaining.
Latifi was also back in the pits having completed seven laps. With twenty
minutes remaining Nicholas would return for a further soft tyre run.
Nicholas would set a 1m:38.765 to be 15th but would drop to 16th. he would
pit returning for another soft tyre run currently 19th. He would pit after a
single lap. Again a bit of a struggle for Nicholas such that making it past
Q1 in qualifying wis going to be a difficult task.
George Russell:
George would follow Nicholas out also using the soft tyre. George would set
a 1m:39.498 to be second dropping to third. As other times were set he would
drop to 12th but this would become 18th. George had pitted after a seven lap
run. George would closely follow his team-mate out for a second soft tyre
run. George would set a 1m:37.886 to be fifth dropping to seventh. He would
pit having completed a five lap run currently eighth. As more times were set
George would drop to 14th. With four minutes remaining George would return
for a third run still on the soft tyre. But he would not set any improved
times as the soft tyres were used. |
