Team Summary:
With the start of the first Friday practice session for the 2016 German GP
both Williams Martini drivers would complete their installation laps. Both
Williams drivers would be running the new floor with Felipe running the new
front wing and Valtteri the old. The first time would be set by Alonso with
a 1m:18.817 running on the supersoft tyre. A 1m:19.409 from Verstappen to be
second, only to see Ricciardo move ahead with a 1m:19.170. Hamilton was now
quickest with a 1m:17.947 with Ricciardo now second followed by Alonso. The
times continued to fall with Raikkonen now quickest with a 1m:17.863 running
the supersoft tyre. Ricciardo would go faster with a 1m:17.698. Rosberg
would move into fourth but would drop a place as Vettel went quickest with a
1m:17.409 running on the supersoft tyres.
After their first runs Valtteri and Felipe were seventh and eighth. At the
front Rosberg would improve with a 1m:17.136 to be quickest. With just over
and hour remaining the tope ten was Rosberg, Vettel, Raikkonen, Ricciardo,
Hamilton, Alonso, Valtteri, Felipe, Perez, and Grosjean. But Hamilton would
move up to third. With Button moving into sixth Valtteri and Felipe would
drop to eighth and ninth. A 1m:17.030 from Rosberg to remain quickest as the
Williams drivers were ninth and tenth. Both Williams drivers were on longer
runs on the soft tyre prior to pitting with the pair having completed thirty
laps.
The track would empty as drivers returned to their pits to return their
Pirelli tyres. With just over forty minutes remaining Rosberg would be first
back out running on the supersoft tyres. He would finish with a 1m:15.517 to
be quickest by 1.892s. Hamilton was also out on a supersoft tyre run
finishing with a 1m:15.843 to be second. Alonso was up to fourth also on the
supersoft tyre but he would drop to fifth behind Ricciardo. Valtteri and
Felipe were tenth and eleventh with twenty six minutes remaining. Verstappen
was now fourth followed by Ricciardo, Alonso, Button, and Raikkonen eighth.
The top ninth were all on the supersoft tyre while in tenth Valtteri was on
the soft tyre.
Having dropped to eleventh and twelfth Valtteri would lead Felipe by just
0.112s. With fifteen minutes remaining the order was Rosberg, Hamilton,
Vettel, Raikkonen, Verstappen, Ricciardo, Alonso, Button, Kvyat and Sainz.
Valtteri and Felipe would drop to twelfth and thirteenth with ten minutes
remaining. Both Williams drivers were on long runs on the used soft tyres.
With the end of the session both Williams drivers would remain in their
current positions.
Valtteri Bottas:
Valtteri would be first out for Williams running on new soft tyres. Valtteri
would complete just a single lap and after a short break would return still
on the soft tyre. Valtteri would go fifth fastest with a 1m:19.184 then
follow this up with a 1m:18.959 to be sixth. As others went faster he would
drop to eighth. Valtteri would go off at Turn one but would continue.
Valtteri would drop to eleventh prior to pitting having completed sixteen
laps. Valtteri would return running on new soft tyres. Valtteri would
improve with a 1m:18.322 to be eighth but he was 2.8s off the quickest time.
Valtteri would improve with a 1m:18.210 to be tenth prior to pitting.
Currently eleventh Valtteri would return running on used soft tyres.
Valtteri would again go off at Turn one but would continue only to follow
this again a few minutes later at the same corner. With the end of the
session Valtteri would pit having completed twenty laps on the soft tyre.
Felipe Massa:
Felipe would follow his team-mate out except he was on the supersoft tyre.
On his return Felipe was also on the soft tyre and would set a 1m:19.061 to
be seventh. This would become ninth then eleventh as he also pitted. Felipe
would also return to the track with thirty five minutes remaining running on
a new soft tyre set. He was currently thirteenth and with his first lap on
the new tyres he would set a 1m:18.664 to only be twelfth. Felipe would also
improve with a 1m:18.322 to be eleventh. Felipe would pit after six laps. He
would follow his team-mate back out also on used soft tyres. Felipe would
pit having completed eighteen laps on the soft tyre. |
