Belgian GP: Bottas finishes 10th in FP1 for Williams Martini

The opening Friday practice for the 2015 Belgain GP would see Williams Martini drivers Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa finish in 10th and 14th. It was a session that was interrupted by a red flag and it would not be until late in the session that Valtteri was able to move up to 10th. It was an uneventful session for the Williams team with both drivers completing longer runs in the session.

Team Summary:
For the Williams martini team it would be Valtteri Bottas out first for his installation lap. Felipe Massa would come out later down the order with the pair on the medium tyre. Both would pit after their installation lap. The early quickest time was a 1m:54.645 from Sainz only to see Verstappen set a 1m:53.399. With an hour and ten minutes left in the session both Williams cars weer out on the track. A 1m:52.192 from Hamilton to be quickest. The Williams drivers would be ninth and twelfth after their first runs but would drop to tenth and thirteenth with Felipe leading Valtteri.

A 1m:51.340 from Hamilton to go even quicker with Ricciardo and Kvyat second and third. With the end of the first half hour the track would empty to allow the teams to return their extra set of Pirelli tyres. With just under forty five minutes remaining the track would see cars coming out. Felipe and Valtteri were now twelfth and thirteenth. Hamilton was still quickest with Raikkonen now second followed by Ricciardo and Sainz. But the session would be halted with Maldonado having crashed at Malmedy. Maldonado would report that he lost the back end of the car.

With thirty minutes remaining the session would restart and Rosberg would go quickest with a 1m:51.200.Roberg would lower this with a 1m:51.082 from Hamilton and Ricciardo. After his next run Felipe was twelfth with a 1m:52.653, while Valtteri would improve with a 1m:52.927 to be fourteenth. Ten minutes remaining and the Williams pair were thirteenth and fourteenth. Valtteri would improve to be tenth with Felipe dropping to fourteenth. They would remain this way as the session came to a close.

Felipe Massa:
After one installation lap Felipe would pit allowing his mechanics to complete some work on his car. He would return to the track and would set a slow 2m:05.681 but his next lap would see him improve with a 1m:53.569 to be ninth. Felipe would pit having completed a six lap run. After the red flag was cleared Felipe would be out setting a 1m:52.653 to be eleventh. Felipe would pit having completed five laps. He would quickly return and would continue to put in laps but would drop to fourteenth. Felipe continued on a longer run completing thirteen laps on this set of medium tyres.

Valtteri Bottas:
Valtteri would be the first back out after his installation lap but he would return leaving the track empty. Valtteri would follow Felipe back out with his first time a 1m:55.704. He would improve with a 1m:53.823 to be twelfth. Valtteri would drop to thirteenth and would pit with an hour remaining. Valtteri would now fifteen and the final thirty minutes started and he was still in his garage. Valtteri would finally get out with twenty minutes remaining currently sixteenth. Valtteri would improve with a 1m:52.927 to be fourteenth. Valtteri was able to find a large amount of time to set a 1m:52.511 to be tenth. With the end of the session Valtteri had completed ten laps.
