For Williams F1 driver Felipe Massa the biggest change for 2014 that could help in the Williams' team success is that of the Mercedes Formula 1 engine deal that the team was able to secure.

With the new Mercedes power plant the Williams team was able to achieve good testing results with the engine showing good reliability as well as pace in the FW36.

"The best thing Williams did was to sign with Mercedes," said Massa.

"I'm so happy with the way they are working, with how professional they are and the understanding they have about things.

"They are not just controlling the engine. They understand a lot about the car, a lot about the setup, a lot about so many things that also help us to understand things quickly.

"So it was a very good change."

In addition to the performance of the Mercedes engine Felipe has been pleased with the performance of the FW36 over the pre-season testing where the team successfully introduced updates to the car. Commentators have the Williams team as potential front runners in the opening race in Australia.

"I'm confident because I think we have good people," said Massa.

"I really believe in this team and believe that they have the potential to be competitive and that they have the understanding to develop well.

"The correlation between the wind tunnel and the track works and that is a good thing. Everything that we brought to the track worked.

"We are just at the beginning. There is still a lot to do and the work from the people [in the team] is on a high level.
