The second Thursday practice session for the 2013 Monaco GP would see both Williams F1 drivers finish well outsde the top ten. Pastor Maldonado was in 14th and Valtteri Bottas 18th. Even using the option tyre neither driver had been able to find a significant improvement in their times so it is hard to judge how they will perform on Saturday in qualifying but once again it was looking like a difficult weekend for the team.

The second Thursday practice session for the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix would see both Williams F1 drivers, Valtteri Bottas and Pastor Maldonado, take to the track very early. Pastor had finished an encouraging sixth in the first practice session while Valtteri was still finding his way around this street circuit. Gutierrez would set the first time with a 1m:24.850 but he was quickly beaten by Chilton with a 1m:22.121. Pastor would go fastest with a 1m:18.863 with Gutierrez now second. Valtteri had set a 1m:25.895 on his first lap. Valtteri would go fastest with a time of 1m:18.360 seeing Pastor second. Only three drivers were still in their pits, including both Red Bull cars. Perez would move ahead of Valtteri with a 1m:17.854 but he was quickly beaten by Raikkonen with a 1m:17.309. Both Williams drivers continued to run on the soft tyre as Ricciardo moved into third.

Grosjean would go fastest with a 1m:16.99, making it a Lotus one-two. Vergne was now third from Perez and Valtteri. But the times were rapidly improving as Di Resta went third, 1m:17.337. Rosberg would go fastest, 1m:16.589, but Grosjean would improve with a 1m:16.096 to again be quickest. Other drivers would improve as Massa went second with a time of 1m:16.301 with Rosberg third and Hamilton now fourth. Valtteri had dropped to tenth and Pastor twelfth. But Valtteri would find some time setting a 1m:17.841 to be ninth. Alonso would move into second, 1m:16.300, while Rosberg would move back to the top of the times with a 1m:15.843. Grosjean had also improved with a 1m:15.998 as Webber went sixth on his first run. Valtteri was now twelfth and Pastor fifteenth.

Hamilton would move up to second, 1m:15.963, with Grosjean now third followed by Webber, Alonso, Massa, Button, Raikkonen, Sutil, and Di Resta tenth. On his next lap Alonso would go fastest with a 1m:15.519. Fifteen minutes of the session had been completed and the track was now quite empty as drivers completed their first runs. Vergne would be the first out on the super soft tyre setting a 1m:17.374 to be eleventh. Vettel had yet to set a time after been delayed in his pit as his team completed work on his car. Raikkonen was on the super soft tyre setting the fastest sector one time. He would move up to sixth with a 1m:16.066. With a 1m:17.184 Vergne would move up to tenth. Valtteri would come back out followed by Pastor. Other drivers weer using the super soft tyres including Chilton. Valtteri continued to use the soft tyre as Vettel finally came out. He would be joined by others including Rosberg. Raikkonen would give his super soft tyres a breather and was able to find time setting a1m:15.511 to go fastest.

Rosberg was also on the option tyre and would use them to good effect going fastest with a 1m:14.759, to be 0.752 seconds ahead of Raikkonen. Valtteri and Pastor were now fourteenth and fifteenth with times of 1m:17.605 and 1m:17.692. Hamilton would also come out on the option tyre followed by Webber. Hamilton was on a quick lap but could not match Rosberg's times. Hamilton would finish in second with a 1m:15.077. Valtteri had pitted again with an hour remaining. Vettel would have a KERS issue seeing his pit as Grosjean would hit the barrier at Ste Devote ending his session. At the time he was on the option tyre with the accident damaging his left front suspension. The Lotus would be craned away but the session would be red flagged as a result of kerb damage at the swimming pool. The clock would continue with just over fifty minutes remaining. The session would re-commence with more drivers coming out on the option tyre. Alonso would go third with a 1m:15.196 with Webber fourth with a 1m:15.404.

As for Williams both Valtteri and Pastor would go out on the super soft tyre with Pastor setting a 1m:16.857 to be fourteenth prior to pitting again. Valtteri was now down in eighteenth with a time of 1m:17.264. Massa would move up to fourth, 1m:15.278. Valtteri would pit joining Pastor. Both Rosberg and Hamilton were on longer runs on the option tyres as the track again cleared. Webber would come back out on the soft tyre followed by Alonso with just over thirty minutes remaining. More drivers had taken to the track including both Williams drivers. Currently Pastor was fourteenth and Valtteri eighteenth. Despite having found time Pastor had dropped from his sixth in the first session to be way down the order in the second. Longer runs were now occurring with twenty minutes remaining. The track was now very busy with only Vergne still in his pit. Pastor was running on the super soft tyre and Valtteri the soft. Hamilton would pit after his long run with just over ten minutes remaining. He would complete a pit stop taking on the soft tyre returning to the track.

Both Williams drivers were on longer runs as the session drew to a close with Perez completing a practice pit stop. Pastor would pit having completed thirty five laps in the session. Perez would stop at the end of the pit lane seeing his mechanics rush down to him. They would fix the issue and he would head out onto the track. Pastor would also come back out with four minutes remaining. Valtteri would also come in for a practice stop taking on the option tyre. The session would come to an end with Rosberg still fastest from Hamilton, Alonso, Massa, Webber, Raikkonen, Grosjean, Button, Vettel, and Di Resta tenth. For Williams their second session could have worked out better with both drivers down the times. The drivers would complete
practice starts on the grid prior to returning to their pits. Pastor would finish the session in fourteenth and Valtteri eighteenth. Even using the option tyre neither driver had been able to find a significant improvement in their times so it is hard to judge how they will perform on Saturday in qualifying but once again it was looking like a difficult weekend for the team.
