Sperafico as WilliamsF1 Test Driver

With the departure of Antonio Pizzonia to Jaguar the WilliamsF1 team has been searching for a new test driver to work along side Marc Gene.

From reports it would appear that Ricardo Sperafico will be the teams second test in 2003.

Sperafico had previously been considered for the role but lost out to his then Formula 3000 team mate Antonio Pizzonia. The WilliamsF1 team has had several drivers test for the team but in the end have come back to Sperafico.

Recently Giorgio Pantano Vitantonio Liuzzi drove for the team but with Pantano moving off to race in Champ Cars and Liuzzi needing more experience before taking on such a role. Liuzzi will get that experience this year in Formula 3000 with the Coloni team.

Assisting in the decision must have been the fact that WilliamsF1 is sponsored by the Brazilian oil company Petrobras, which has been supporting Sperafico in recent years.
