The final practice for the 2013 Malaysian GP would see Williams F1 drivers Pastor Maldonado and Valtteri Bottas finish 11th and 15th. A small step forward from Pastor over Friday times. Now it is down to qualifying with Q2 likely for both drivers.

After a disappointing Friday practice that saw both cars well down the times the Williams F1 team would prepare their cars for the start of the Saturday practice session. With the start of the session both Williams cars would head out with Valtteri Bottas leading Pastor Maldonado. The first time was set by Webber with a 1m:44.486 in what was a slow lap. Van der Gar would go quicker with a 1m:41.348 while both Williams drivers had pitted. Pic would go fastest with a 1m:41.040 with the hard compound in use but Van der Gar would improve with a 1m:40.900 to again be fastest. Vettel was third and Webber fourth with both drivers looking to be doing race evaluations. More drivers took to the track and Raikkonen would go fastest, 1m:38.474, but he was passed by Rosberg with a 1m:38.218.

We had yet to see either Williams driver with fifteen minutes of the track completed. Sutil would go fastest with a 1m:37.933 as Ricciardo moved in fourth and Vergne fifth. Di Resta was now third, 1m:38.357 while Rosberg would improve with a 1m:37.916. Valtteri would be first out for Williams while Hamilton would join team-mate at the front by going fastest with a 1m:37.527. Sutil was third followed by Di Resta, Raikkonen, Ricciardo, Vergne, Gutierrez, Van der Gar, and Pic tenth. Sutil would improve with a 1m:37.541 to be second. Valtteri was on his first timed lap as Chilton swapped to the medium tyre. Grosjean was now fifth, 1m:38.105, while Valtteri was eighth with a 1m:38.588. Grosjean was now third, 1m:37.746, as Webber and Vettel continued their longer runs.

Alonso was sixth, 1m:38.289, as Hamilton and Sutil pitted. Valtteri would improve to be sixth with a 1m:37.936 which was the quickest that Valtteri had been. Pastor had now left his pit with thirty five minutes remaining. Valtteri would pit after his first run as Button moved up to eighth with a 1m:38.313. Raikkonen was now third with a 1m:37.601 as Sutil returned to the track running on the medium tyre. Pastor was on his first timed lap and would set a 1m:38.619 to be eleventh. Massa had yet to set a time with thirty minutes remaining. Button was now ninth and Perez tenth but Button would improve to be sixth, 1m:37.808. Rosberg was also on the medium tyre and would go fastest with a 1m:36.949. Pastor had found a few tenths to be tenth with a 1m:38.103. Button was now second, 1m:37.521, as pastor again improved with a 1m:38.020.

Vettel and Webber had pitted and both were slowest with twenty five minutes left in the session. Valtteri was now eighth and Pastor tenth. Valtteri would return to the track while Pastor pitted having finished his hard tyre run. Massa would move up to eighth seeing Valtteri ninth. More drivers were out on the medium tyre as Alonso moved into seventh, 1m:37.760 on the hard tyre. Hamilton was on a quick lap setting a 1m:36.568 on the medium tyre. Webber and Vettel would come back out on the medium tyre. Webber would go into second with a 1m:36.613 as Raikkonen continued his hard tyre run. Valtteri and Pastor were now eleventh and twelfth. Vettel would start a flying lap while Valtteri had pitted. Vettel's time was a 1m:37.548 to only be sixth. With thirteen minutes left in the session the track had gone quite as Button took to the track on the mediums.

Both Williams drivers had been a little bit more impressive in this session as we also had Sutil out on the medium tyres. Neither of the Williams drivers had been out on the medium tyre as Valtteri's second run had again been on the hard tyre. Button was now third but Sutil would move into second, 1m:36.588. The track was again very busy as Pastor returned to the track. Perez had improved to be sixth, 1m:37.538, as Valtteri also went out. Di Resta was now fourth, 1m:36.807, with everyone out on the mediums. Alonso would move up to eighth, 1m:37.302, as Pastor started his flying lap. Vettel would go fastest with a 1m:36.435 as Pastor set a 1m:37.359 to be eleventh. Hamilton was now second with Sutil third. With only a few minutes remaining we had Sutil, Massa, and Perez back in their pits. Valtteri was on a flying lap as Raikkonen moved up to fifth. Valtteri would set a personal best middle sector but his overall lap did not improve seeing him remain fifteenth.

The session came to an end as Pastor pitted joined by the rest of the field. So with the end of the final practice Pastor would finish eleventh and Valtteri fifteenth. It would appear that Pastor had been able to find some pace been just 0.924 seconds behind the quickest time. The top ten were Vettel, Hamilton, Sutil, Webber, Raikkonen, Di Resta, Button, Massa, Rosberg, and Alonso tenth. The prospects for qualifying for the Williams F1 team would seem to have both drivers having the opportunity to make it into the second period. As for a top ten it would be a very big ask.
