The second Friday practice session for the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix would see both Williams F1 drivers finish outside the top ten. Pastor Maldonado would fnish in 13th while Bruno Senna was down in eighteenth. Again the Williams F1 team would seem to be struggling to find the pace to bring their drivers into the top ten.

The second Friday practice session for the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix would see Bruno Senna return for the Williams F1 team, joining Pastor Maldonado. As the session commenced it would be Vergne who would take to the track first, joined by Ricciardo. With the hard tyre been used in the first session it was expected to see the soft tyre been
used in this session. The Torro Rosso drivers would be joined by a rush of drivers including Bruno, Perez, Grosjean, both McLaren's, Raikkonen, Vettel, and Rosberg. Vergne would set a 1m:27.146 but was passed by Ricciardo with a 1m:26.622. Pastor would come out with five minutes of the session run. Bruno was on the hard compound and would set a 1m:26.949. Perez was now fastest with a 1m:25.532 followed by Kobayashi. But Vettel would move ahead with a 1m:25.000.

Hamilton was now second with a 1m:25.123 followed by the Sauber's. Button was now fifth but Rosberg would take this spot with a 1m:25.808. Bruno was now in tenth while Pastor would move up to sixth with a 1m:25.985. This would become seventh as Schumacher went fastest with a 1m:24.859. Both Ferrari's were out on the track as Webber moved
into third with a 1m:25.118. Massa was now seventh with Pastor now ninth. Bruno was in fourteenth with a 1m:26.619. Hamilton would improve to be third with a 1m:25.061. Vettel would pit while Alonso moved up to third, 1m:25.039. Pastor was now tenth but as other drivers improved he would drop to twelfth. Bruno would find some pace and would
move into tenth with a 1m:25.625. Pastor was now twelfth with a 1m:25.985. With fifteen minutes of the session complete the track would empty as drivers completed their first runs.

Bruno had joined Pastor in the pits. At the front Alonso would go fastest with a 1m:24.739. Massa was now in fourth with a 1m:25.011. Perez was back out currently in eighth. Alonso had pitted while for Torro Rosso Vergne would come out on the soft tyre and immediately go fastest with a 1m:24.733. Vettel would also come out joined by Bruno. Hulkenberg was also out on the track currently in twelfth. This would become thirteenth as Ricciardo moved up to third, 1m:24.769, set on the soft tyre. Both Vettel and Bruno were on the soft tyre as Vettel went fastest with a 1m:23.563 to be 1.170 seconds faster than second placed Vergne. Bruno would also improve with a 1m:25.053, to be seventh. Kobayashi would also move up the times with a 1m:24.214 to be second again using the soft tyres.

Pastor was also back out on the track while Bruno was on an improved lap but would only make up a few tenths, 1m:25.047, to be ninth. Also using the soft tyre Pastor would move up to third with a 1m:24.468. Alonso was back out but using the hard tyre. Hamilton would jump up to second with a 1m:24.027, using the soft tyre. Bruno had pitted with Pastor now fourth. Eleventh placed Webber was on a quick lap using the soft tyres finishing with a
1m:24.065 to be third. Pastor had pitted as Hamilton improved his time with a 1m:23.909 to be second. Pastor was fifth and Bruno eleventh with just under an hour remaining. Both Mercedes cars were on the hard tyre completing longer runs. Bruno would return to the track as we saw Button go fastest with a 1m:23.399, using the soft tyres.

Schumacher was in tenth and Rosberg fifteenth. Rosberg had pitted while for Williams Pastor was now sixth and Bruno twelfth. Pastor would return to the track with Vettel also back out. He was again on the soft tyre as Bruno pitted. Hulkenberg would move up to sixth with a 1m:24.365. Raikkonen and Grosjean were down in nineteenth and twentieth,
but tended to run longer runs using the prime tyre. Perez was now seventh on the soft tyre, 1m:24.422, seeing Pastor now eighth. Rosberg was back out on soft tyres and would gain considerably moving up to third with a 1m:23.771. More drivers were coming out including Button, Alonso, Massa, Webber, Schumacher, and both Torro Rosso's. Schumacher would also find time with a 1m:24.080 to be sixth. Bruno had also come out onto the track with Pastor now eleventh and Bruno fifteenth.

Rosberg would pit with forty minutes remaining. Alonso was on the soft tyres as both Louts cars took to the track. Grosjean was out on the soft tyre and would set a 1m:23.964 to be fifth. Raikkonen was down in twenty first also out on the soft tyre. Like Grosjean Raikkonen would improve to be fifth with a1m:23.918. Bruno was still out on the track on a longer run, currently in seventeenth. Pastor was now thirteenth as Webber would run wide at Turn four
going over the gravel but he was able to return to the track. Pastor had completed twenty three laps and Bruno twenty two. With thirty minutes remaining Button was still fastest from Vettel, Rosberg, Hamilton, Raikkonen, Grosjean, Webber, Schumacher, Kobayashi, and Hulkenberg in tenth.

Both Williams drivers continued to put in laps on their longer runs as Hamilton pitted after running wide at the final chicane. Drivers would continue to put in laps using both the hard and soft tyre and as the session drew to a close Bruno would spin his car at Turn twelve but was able to continue. With the end of the session Pastor and Bruno would finish in thirteenth and eighteenth positions. The top ten would remain the same at the end of the
session. Pastor was only just outside the top ten but Bruno was a bigger margin down the times. It would again be a case of a lot of work for the Williams team if they hope to move towards the front.
