For AT&T Williams driver Rubens Barrichello the next Grand Prix in Belgium will see him celebrate his 300th start. But with results still coming from the Brazilian there is every likelihood that he will continue his career into 2011, hopefully witrh the Williams team. For AT&T
Williams driver Rubens Barrichello the next Grand Prix in Belgium will see
him celebrate his 300th grand prix start making him the longest-serving
driver in Formula One history. But with results still coming from the
Brazilian there is every likelihood that he will continue his career into
2011. Sir Frank Williams has even supported the view that Rubens will
continue hinting that the Williams team will extended Rubens contract into
2011.
If
Rubens continues into 2011 this will see him extend his Formula One career
into its nineteenth year, having started in 1993 with the then Jordan team.
For Rubens 2010
saw him move to the Williams team after a successful 2009 season wit the
then brawn team. With his move both Rubens and the Williams team have
benefited from their relationship. Even though the first half of the season
has been somewhat of a struggle for both Rubens and the Williams team there
has been moments where there has been some strong results including a fourth
in the European Grand Prix followed up by a fifth in the British Grand Prix.
He showed that he still has the motivation in his recent performance in the
Hungarian Grand Prix where he fought with Michael Schumacher to secure a
tenth placed finish in the race.
Rubens has
brought to the Williams team a level of experience that has helped turn
things around in regard to the development of the 2010 FW32. It would seem
to be the correct thing to do to keep Rubens with the team for 2011.
Rubens expertise
has already flowed onto the 2011 car where he has already been involved. In
an interview with the Brazilian media Rubens commented on how things were
working out at Williams. Rubens said: "We have been working together on the
2011 car, so I think the renewal is a natural process. The team has used me
in the best possible way. With Williams we have 100 per cent confidence in
talking about the car now. From the moment we chose this way, especially in
the wind tunnel, everything has improved.
“It is hard to say when Williams will win again, but the trend this year has
been very noticeable. The greatest pride is that my information has not only
served me, but my team-mate as well. We are on the right track.” |
