The opening Friday practice session for the 2010 British GP would be an encouraging start for the Williams team with both drivers inside the top ten but still someway off the pace. Nico Hulkenberg would finish in seventh while team-mate Rubens Barrichello was in tenth. It was again a session that would see Nico finish ahead of his more experienced team-mate Rubens.

 British GP Friday 1st Practice

The AT&T Williams team would come to Silverstone for the 2010 British Grand Prix with a heavily-revised FW32. The car would feature a blown diffuser as well as an F-duct system that would allow Nico Hulkenberg to use the device for the first time. The team was looking at using Friday to evaluate the new components. Both Williams drivers Rubens Barrichello and Nico Hulkenberg would take to the track early to check the conditions.

The Silverstone circuit had a new layout and a lot of time was spent getting to grips with this as well as fine-tuning their set-ups. Several drivers would have problems with parts of the new circuit including a bump at the turn-in of the new Abbey right hander, and also with the slippery surface in the new Village loop. The bump at Abbey would cause problems as drivers experimented with different set-ups as they attempted to find the right setup for the quick right-hander.

Several drivers would have moments at Village including Nico, who would run wide. As the session progressed and forty seven minutes into it Rubens would move up the order to be fifth. Prior to this Rubens would run wide at the Becketts complex. Late in the session Rubens would move up to ninth with 1m:34.016s to be two places behind his team-mate Nico. At one stage during the session Nico was high as second but would drop down the order to be seventh, 1m:33.377, while Rubens would finish close behind in tenth, 1m:34.016.

An encouraging start for the Williams team with both drivers inside the top ten but still someway off the pace been set by the quickest drivers. It was also another session that would see Nico finish ahead of team-mate Rubens.
