Montoya content with 2002

For BMW WilliamsF1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya the 2002 Formula One season was one where he would not secure a race victory but would still come away feeling content with his achievements.

Juan Pablo MontoyaMontoya was to say: "I think from my personal goals this season has been a success."

Juan Pablo added: “I am third in the championship and I can't really complain. My second year in F1 and I am in the top three. That's not bad. I am the frontrunner after Ferrari.“

Montoya would see his position in the final results for the championship move from sixth in 2001 to third in 2002, scoring thirty one points in 2001 and fifty in 2002. Juan Pablo would also establish himself as a front-runner when it came to qualifying, scoring seven pole positions last season. Montoya said: "The qualifying was really amazing this season.”

The qualifying that Juan Pablo remembers was that for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. He added: “I couldn't believe it at races like at Silverstone where I thought we really looked to be in trouble, and then to pull one out of the bag out of nowhere; suddenly I just got the last little bit out of the car, put a brilliant lap together, and P1. Silverstone was pretty amazing. I used to be really rotten at Silverstone in all the small series."
