The second Friday practice for the 2009 Singapore Grand Prix would see the AT&T Williams drivers have different results. Nico Rosberg would improve finishing in seventh while team-mate Kazuki Nakajima would struggle in the session finishing in fifteenth. The Williams team should be pleased with Nico's seventh position but they need to help Kazuki find a lot more pace from his car come Saturday.

 Singapore GP Friday 2nd Practice

The second Friday practice would get underway with Nico doing a practice start as he exited the pit early in the session. He would be joined by ten other drivers including Kazuki, Button, Webber, Fisichella, Vettel, Liuzzi, Heidfeld, Trulli, and Alguersuari. Like the earlier session Nico started the session on the harder tyre. Only four drivers were still in their pits as Nico backed off from his first flying lap. Alguersuari was fastest with a 1m:54.801 followed by Heidfeld and Nico. Trulli went fastest but was passed by several drivers. Heidfeld would go fastest from Glock, and Kovalainen. But just as quickly Vettel was fastest from Webber, Hamilton, Heidfeld, Kazuki, Glock, Kovalainen, and Nico in eighth.

RosbergThe lap times were coming thick and fast as Sutil spun at Turn five but he was able to continue. Webber was now fastest with a 1m:50.788 from Hamilton and Vettel. Button was now fourth but this would become fifth as Heidfeld went fastest with a 1m:50.539. Nico would pit from fifteenth. Kazuki would also come in currently in eleventh, 1m:52.033. Nico's time was a 1m:52.743. Vettel was now second with a 1m:50.626 behind Heidfeld. Sutil was now up to second, 1m:50.555, from Vettel, Webber, Hamilton, Glock, Alonso, Kovalainen, Trulli, and Button in tenth.

Nico was now seventeenth and was back out on the track. Fastest was now Sutil from Alonso and Heidfeld. Barrichello was up to fourth while Vettel had dropped to fifth from Webber, Hamilton, and Glock. Nico was able to improve to be in ninth while Kazuki, also out on the track, was down in thirteenth. Webber was fastest in sector one with an hour and eight minutes left in the session. Nico would improve to be seventh, 1m:50.792. Webber was now fastest with a time of 1m:49.317 while Barrichello would move up to second, 1m:50.346, but was 1.029 behind the Red Bull. Kazuki had dropped to fourteenth behind Alguersuari. Kazuki was on an improved lap and would move up to tenth with a 1m:50.950. Neither Kubica and Grosjean had set a time with an hour and three minutes remaining.

Vettel would match Webber moving into second, but he was on the softer tyre. His time was a 1m:49.621. Alguersuari was also on the softer tyre. Kubica would finally set a time with a 1m:50.784 to now be seventh. Nico was now eighth and Kazuki eleventh. Barrichello was third from Sutil, Alonso, Heidfeld, Kubica, Nico, Hamilton, and Glock in tenth. Championship leader Button was down in fourteenth with a time of 1m:51.236. Raikkonen was now seventh, 1m:50.583. Kubica would improve his lap time moving up to fourth, 1m:50.280. Kovalainen was also on the move setting a time that would see him fifth, 1m:50.370.

NakajimaNico was now eleventh and Kazuki thirteenth. The session was stopped after Webber crashed his Red Bull on the start-finish straight. He came round the final turn and spun across the track with the front hitting the what causing a lot of damage. Webber would walk back to the pits. The other cars would return to their pits as they waited to recover the damaged Red Bull. Grosjean had just left the pits for his first run only to have the session stopped. Webber's car was craned away back to the pits. It was quickly covered up by the mechanics as they wheel it back to the pits.

The session would restart with Nico first out joined by Kubica, Barrichello, Alonso, Heidfeld, Hamilton, Raikkonen, Buemi, Grosjean, and Buemi. Nico was on the softer tyre as we only had a handful of drivers till in their pits. Heidfeld was now fastest with a 1m:49.098. Nico was now fourth behind third placed Button. Only Liuzzi was still in his pit with forty minutes left in the session. Button would improve to be second with a time of 1m:49.311. Kazuki was still down the order in fourteenth. Heidfeld would pit while Sutil moved up to seventh. Vettel was fastest in the first sector and would finish in second with a 1m:49.278. Nico was now fifth, 1m:49.507, as Heidfeld returned to the track.

Thirty minutes remaining and Heidfeld was still fastest from Vettel, Button, Webber, Nico, Barrichello, Kovalainen, Glock, Sutil, and Hamilton in tenth. Nico had pitted joined by both Brawn cars shortly after. More drivers were running on the softer tyre, one being Trulli who improved to be eighth. team-mate Glock was ninth followed by Sutil. Nico would return to the track with twenty three minutes left. Glock was now fifth with a 1m:49.342, pushing Nico to sixth. Both Kazuki and Nico had completed twenty six laps as they completed longer runs. Nico was on an improved lap moving up to fifth with a time of 1m:49.333. Nico was again on the super soft tyre.

Barrichello was out on the softer tyre with seventeenth minutes left in the session. Button was pushing hard but could not improve from third. Nico would pit joined by Hamilton. Kovalainen was on a quick lap going fastest in the middle sector. On the softer tyre he would go fastest with a 1m:48.952. Nico was back in his pit as his mechanics worked on his setup. Kazuki was also in his pit and was still fourteenth. With ten minutes left Kazuki would leave the pit lane and as the final minutes counted down more drivers took to the track for their final runs. Kazuki was on a quick lap but he would not carry the pace in the final sector. He would only improve to thirteenth. On the softer tyre Vettel was able to improve to be fastest with a time of 1m:48.650.

RosbergNow only Button was still in the pits as Hamilton went fastest in sector one. Everyone was now on the track with four minutes remaining. Hamilton would improve to be eighth, 1m:49.358. Fisichella was up to fourteenth, 1m:50.253. Alonso would improve to be thirteenth. Nico would not improve from sixth fastest as Hamilton was again fastest in sector one. Button was on a quick lap but would lose time in the final sector. Kubica was now ninth, 1m:49.609, while Hamilton would not improve from eighth. The session would end as the drivers completed their final laps. Alonso would move up to second with a time of 1m:48.924.

So the order was Vettel from Alonso, Kovalainen, Heidfeld, Button, Webber, Nico, Glock, Hamilton, and in tenth Kubica. Kazuki was down in fifteenth and looking to again be struggling to match the pace of his team-mate. The Williams team should be pleased with Nico's seventh position but they need to help Kazuki find a lot more pace from his car come Saturday.

LOL betting money is impractical, but I would like to make the following wager with you, Pablo 27.

If one or more Williams driver makes it through into q2 tomorrow, you will have to change your signature to the below image for the period of 1 week- ie until after qualifying on saturday in Japan.

If neither Williams driver makes it through to q2 tomorrow, then I shall have to change my signature to any image you wish me to use for the period of a week-ie, until after qualifying on saturday in Japan.

agreed? (I can make the terms easier for you if want)

Here is the image I would like you to use if you lose the bet:

Oh I see.
How about this then- If neither Williams driver makes it into Q3, then I shall change my sig to what ever you want for a week- eg "Nakajima for 2010". But if one or more Williams driver makes it into Q3- then you wear the Barrichello sig for a week?

Thats well fair

Sorry Pablo but I think Crusty has done you over there! On this circuit barring a car problem we are guaranteed to get Rosberg into Q3.

Notice I didn't mention the chance of Nakajima getting into Q3? I wonder why!(Sm141)
