Williams F1 2009 Livery
FW30 in 2009 livery
By Andrew Hooper
February 21 2009
The 2009 livery of the Williams F1 team would be shown to the public for the first time. The photos are of a 2008 FW30 running with the 2009 livery. The car looks very simliar to the 2009 model but the photos were taken at a time prior to the launch of the FW31. The 2009 livery is very close to that used in 2008, with the white cockpit surrounds again being dominate.

The livery looks very much the same of 08 livery with a slighty lighter blue color.
But why do they publish the livery on an interim car?! It's not FW31 so you can't have the best picture of the car in our new livery IMO.
At the end, there are alot of blank space on the car:/

Only Petrobras is missing and don't forget a car number will come in the currently blank space betwen RBS and Philips commercials on the nose.Besides, who knows - Williams is known to have various rearangement of sponsors during season (remember Air Asia on rear wing 2 seasons ago and sudden adding of Motosport and Leisure on bargeboards).
Also, this could be one of the options for livery - last years leaked livery had Mappins and Webb on sidepods and in the end it was Hamley's on that spot...
As livery goes - I loved the testing livery we used on FW27c but this one is fine too - I prefer when we have more blue then white.

There's no sponser on the sides of the nose, somewhere we had petrobras till last year.there's no second sponser on rear wing sides too, the one that once belonged to Castrol or something else.

Lets make a comparison - Baugur brands, Lenovo and Petrobras are gone - they were on the side of the wing.
Oris is still one the side of the front wing (well - something is at least). M&L moved from bargeboards (which aren't advertising-wise viable anymore) to side of the rear wing. Hamleys is missing from front wing and sidepods but Philips and Ranstadt are filling up there... As far as I can see we are missing only two sponsor areas - one on the side of the rear wing (Baugur brands and At&T were there last year) and Petrobras from mirrors and side of the wing... Maybe Petrobras spaces will fill up with new oil and fuel supplier(s)

If nothing surfaces, Williams should take a page out of NASCARS book:
Put, in the largest, boldest letters you can, "YOUR NAME HERE" on the spaces that have no sponsor.
Yes, it sounds tacky. Yes, in fact, it is...but you'd be amazed at how many people remember that. You'd also be amazed that out of all the people that remember that, companies remember it too.
It's like that stupid commercial you just can't get out of your head.
Somebody will buy those spots if you do it. They will because they'll remember what they saw: YOUR NAME HERE. They'll instantly think that if their logo is there, that everyone will remember it too just like they remembered the fact that it said "YOUR NAME HERE" in the same place and they saw it and remembered it.

Parminio

Didn't we have a question mark on empty spaces sometime in the nineties? Or was it only a tobacco-free Rothmans livery?

Guys and Gals i think the official livery launch is this week so what you can see on the car is not the 2009 livery just current sponsors.

Allianz has removed the photos of the 2009 livery that were on their web site. Maybe they put them up too soon.

I guess we're running all that white to distinguish us from the RBR livery. Tis a tad dull though...

Or it could look like the BMW era which were damn classy.
I think any yellow doesn't make sense esp. when we have been blue & white for this decade predominantly.

Bit confused to tell the truth.
Maybe they are working around when new sponsors will come on board ,so could be anytime really all the way up to OZ.
This is why williams do this as they are not sure who will sponsor them, negotiations right up to the first race i guess.
Don,t know.
Still i could not care less if it was pink with black spot,s as long as it is quick and nimble.
Good luck Williams.

Well, some kind of news conference or an interview with Frank Williams is scheduled today according to Joe Saward's blog - but I doubt they will officially unveil livery today.

If it's a NASCAR style marketing portfolio, it could be race by race or package of races for sponsors.

At the event, the FW31 featured some striking new cockpit sails to help direct airflow over the car.
"They are called skate fins, because they are similar to what you see on a surfboard," said Michael. "They are likely to remain, but like any part there could be a development on the car than changes the nature of the car, so they could change shape or we could remove them completely."
There should be a picture of the new updates ,on the web somewhere., i can find one.
