Cooperation is Limited

Previously this site has run a story regarding the call for closer cooperation between WilliamsF1 and McLaren, especially when it comes to both teams use of Michelin tyres.

BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen has said that such cooperation can have advantages. Despite this such cooperation can only ever be limited

Dr Theissen said: “The press slightly exaggerated when writing about the cooperation with McLaren in the tyre sector. Both teams of course exchange lap times, information about the driven tyres and also their impressions of the tyres, but that is all”.

Theissen added: “That’s all we can do for each other, as we are opponents in a fight after all. This is not only for this year. Car data is not being exchanged, engine data neither. Hence, we are pretty much restricted in this respect”
