| For the BMW WilliamsF1
team the second Friday practice session for the Hungarian Grand Prix would
see several drivers have spins as they attempted to come to terms with the
Hungaroring circuit. The session would see the temperatures rise which
assisted those teams using Michelin tyres, including WilliamsF1. The
circuit would see a few spots of rain but they would soon ease off.
For Juan Pablo Montoya he would finish the day in sixteenth as he continued to struggle to find a correct setup for the track. Such were his difficulties that he would spin off the track at turn nine and find himself stuck in the gravel late in the session. Despite also have their own
moments out on the track it would still be the Ferrari pair of Michael
Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello who would finish the day fastest.
Michael would improve on his morning time by four tenths of a second,
finishing ahead of Rubens Barrichello who also set a time in the 1:16
bracket. Even Michael was to have a spin, losing the rear of his car at
low speed in turn thirteen. He was able to keep his engine running and
resume his practice. Next came the Jordan's of
Giancarlo Fisichella and Takuma Sato in fifth and sixth, ahead of Sauber’s
Felipe Massa who crashed at the end of the session, slightly damaging his
C21 Sauber. Next was Toyota's Allan McNish, and Minardi's Anthony Davidson. He would finish ahead of his team-mate despite this being his first experience of Grand Prix practice. Webber rounded out the timesheets with a 1m:19.526. |

At
the end of the day Ralf Schumacher would improve to finish third fastest,
despite having another spin. Ralf would set a best time of 1m:17.228 late
in the session. Ralf went out early in the session, and again made an
error which would see him lock up at turn two and run wide over the grass.
After fifteen minutes of the session Ralf would also run off at turn
thirteen but was able to keep his engine running and pull away just as
marshals moved towards his car.
Behind
Ralf came McLaren’s Kimi Raikkonen in fourth. Like all the other drivers
he too worked through his programme trying to find the right setup. "As
expected the circuit was still very slippery today, but we found quite a
good set up," Raikkonen said.
BAR
Honda man Jacques Villeneuve was in twelfth having not improved on his
earlier time, followed by Jaguar’s Eddie Irvine, and Olivier Panis. At the
start of the session Jacques Villeneuve would understeer off the track and
into the gravel at the very quick turn four, before recovering to the
track. Eddie Irvine was to also spin in the final sector, but managed to
keep his engine running and keep going.
