Silverstone Test Test 20:09:2006 Day Two

On a sunny day the WilliamsF1 team would complete the second day of their four day Silverstone test. Joining Narain Karthikeyan was Alex Wurz. The team would run one of their Cosworth powered cars while Narain would continue development work on the Toyota powered car.

WurzAlex would finish the day fifth fastest in a car that had several aerodynamic modifications, most noticeable been the new front wing. Alex would finish with a time of 1m:20.818 after completing sixty eight laps. Alex would test tyres for both the Japanese and Chinese rounds.

Narain's day would see him complete a considerable number of laps in the Toyota powered car, after the difficult start the team had with this interim car the day before. Narain would have a spin during his days running finishing with a best time of 1m:24.032.

WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager Mike Condliffe commented: “Narain continued with the systems checks on the interim FW28B and successfully completed a considerable number of laps over the course of the day. Meanwhile, Alex drove the FW28A Cosworth-powered car to evaluate tyre compounds for Suzuka and various components for Shanghai. Tomorrow, Alex will drive the FW28B with the Toyota engine.”
