The WilliamsF1
team would move to the Monza circuit for a three day test in the lead up to
the Italian Grand Prix. On a warm and dry day, Mark Webber and Alex Wurz
conducted tests evaluating a new aerodynamic package for the Monza race as
well as tyres for the same event.
Mark
would finish the day in third with a best time of 1m:22.743, completing
ninety laps. He would a productive day despite having problems with his
brakes.
For Alex his day would see him down in eleventh but this was due to him
focusing on tyre constructions.
WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager Mike Condliffe commented: “We returned to Monza
today after a month’s break from testing and ahead of the race here in 12
days’ time. All the teams are here - while not all of them went out today,
it was still busy on track. Our main objective this week is to test a new
aero package specifically designed for this track and to select our tyres
for the race. We started the three day test with some initial set-up work on
the new aero package and then moved on to tyre testing with both Mark and
Alex. Tomorrow, Nico joins Mark on track.” |
