The A23 can do more says Arrows at Interlagos

The OrangeArrows A23s had the most competitive practice session to date today at Interlagos, but both Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Enrique Bernoldi feel that there is room for the A23 to be improved. The team finished free practice 11th and 12th today, and look set to qualify well on Saturday.

Judging from the comments made by both the team and the drivers, today was used to improve the balance of the A23, work on race setup and evaluate the tyre choice. Both Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Enrique Bernoldi were happy with the work that they had done today, but both agree that there is room for improvement. The team were 6th and 10th fastest in the first free practice session, and 11th and 12th in the second.

If this performance is a reflection of the A23's race pace as of now, and there is room for improvement then the fans can expect an excellent race on Sunday !

"We had a very progressive, trouble-free day today," Heinz-Harald Frentzen said to the official Arrows website. "We made a lot of changes to the car throughout the two sessions in order to improve the balance. We are getting there but there are still improvements to be made so we will work hard on that this afternoon." Unfortunately Frentzen doesn't go into specifics in his statement, such as why his car was garage bound for the majority of the second session.

"The car feels okay here," added Enrique Bernoldi. "We went through the usual programme of evaluating tyres and working on our race set-up. We made a lot of progress but there is still room for improvement."

"A pretty good day for us today. We got through all the work we needed to do and will now spend the afternoon going through the data. The times were competitive during this morning’s session but both drivers feel there are still advances to be made. I’m relatively happy with our pace today and we’ve shown we can be reliable in hotter conditions than this so our main aim now is to improve the balance of the A23s further in order to get maximum pace tomorrow and on Sunday," concluded Mike Coughlan, Technical Director for OrangeArrows.
