Left-field theory, but I wonder if DAS had a detrimental impact on tyre life for both Mercs?

I appreciate that tyre-wear was bad on McLarens and other cars too, and could have been other legit reasons for punctures, such as debris on track.

However, perhaps the strength of DAS - tilting the tyres to warm them up after safety car - also contributes to weakness, by unduly wearing and stressing different parts of the tyre wall?

Morning guys

I was busy all this weekend and missed all action and was not able to keep an eye on lap times
during this race.

Sounds like you guys think the race pace of the 43 has improved and you say George was
able to pass a few people which must mean the balance behind other cars has improved also?

Has Williams posted a drivers review yet,

Has Seb just mentally lost it? I think he should hang up his helmet!

Seb makes too many mistakes and indeed, over the last couple of seasons, is increasingly prone to 'hissy fits'. Why Racing Point would take Seb over Perez is a mystery from a racing point of view - but I imagine there may be commercial advantages.

Now Lance is developing a Q knack - the only weak part of his game - they're a great team.

Seb could never really mix it. He dominated when he had the fastest car and one which suite him but take 2009 when the RBR was superior to the Brawn by mid season, he threw that title away with mistakes. I think he'll probably pack it in. Perez will do a better job.

Well that was a race and a half. Nice to see our car had race pace too for the first time in years. Latifi done a good job too and tbh I don't think you can fault him much over the 4 grand prixs being a newbie.

I care not for what he has done in the past. Right now I think he's doing a good job.

I have a bit too much time on my hands, so I was looking for more stats how much Williams car is better this year than last year. So here is a semi-useless stat comparing the fastest laps of a team from both races (team: 2019, 2020 = diffirence)

Mercedes: 1’27.369, 1’29.238 = +1,869 (both 2stop, in 2020 they did not attack the fastest lap point)
Red Bull: 1’29.272, 1’27.097 = -2,175 (both 3 stop, in 2020 a quali lap at the ende with fresh soft tires)
Ferrari: 1’28.733, 1’29.813 = +1,080 (2019 was a 3 stop with a short mid stint)
McLaren: 1’29.636, 1’29.948 = +0,312 ( both 2 stop (puncture 2020 did not effect the lap time)
Racing Point: 1’29.390, 1’30.475 = +1,085 (2019 was a 3 stop, with a 13lap last stint on softs)
Renault: 1’29.624, 1’29.482 = -0,142 (2019 was a 3 stop with a short mid stint)
Alpha Tauri: 1’29.910, 1’29.603 = -0,307 (2019 was a 3 stop with a short mid stint)
Hass: 1’33.425, 1’29.782 = -3,643 (both cars out by lap 5 in 2019)
Alfa romeo: 1’30.034, 1’29.973 = -0,061 (both 2stop)
Williams: 1’31.013, 1’30.501 = -0,512 (both 2stop)

Wow, after looking throu the strategies, this is een more usseles than I tought (Sm6)

Main thing is, both our cars passed an Alfa. That's cool and both were closing on that mid pack during the middle of the race. Encouraging.

Interesting stats tomazy! Thanks for doing the leg work!

RBR this year faster than Merc last year and smashed Ferrari both years.

Racing Point woefully slower this year with the Pink Merc. Would have been great to see what Hulk or Perez could have done. STR can't make the tyres work.

Renault, AT and Hass all faster than Ferrari this year.

Williams good consistent improvement this year.

I think he’ll sign for Aston Martin and spend a couple of years plodding around the midfield for a healthy paycheck. He should be able to comfortably beat stroll - I’m sure it’ll be good for his confidence to be a #1 driver again.
