Team Summary:
After a difficult Friday practice for the 2022 Bahrain GP where they would
finish last in the order the Williams Racing Team would commence the final
practice session. The first cars would come out with the hard tyre being the
main tyre being run. Bottas would set a 1m:38.840 to get things underway.
With ten minutes of the hour session the track was empty of cars. But Norris
would be the next car running joined by Hulkenberg both on the medium. But
more drivers were coming out on the soft tyre including the first of the
Williams. Leclerc was quickest with a 1m:33.797 from Sainz and Hamilton.
Perez was now second and a Williams eighth as the second Williams took to
the track. Hamilton was fourth followed by Russell, Bottas, Zhou, Alex,
Norris and Alonso.
Verstappen would go straight to the top of the times with a 1m:33.035 while
the Williams pair were now 11th and 12th. The order was Verstappen, Leclerc,
Sainz, Perez, Hamilton, Magnussen, Russell, Bottas, Schumacher, and Zhou
tenth with all their times set of the soft tyre. The Williams pair were now
11th and 12th but were slowest of the soft tyre runners. Hamilton was now
second behind Verstappen. With twenty minutes remaining both Williams cars
would return for another soft tyre run. Russell was able to go quickest
with a 1m:32.935 followed by Verstappen, Sainz, Hamilton, Bottas, Leclerc,
and Zhou seventh. The Williams pair were now 13th and 14th as Leclerc went
fastest with a 1m:32.640.
Verstappen would respond with a 1m:32.544 to now be another ahead of Leclerc
and Russell. But Perez would move into third while the Williams drivers were
now 14th and 16th with both back in their pits. Stroll would move up to
ninth with five minutes remaining. Hulkenberg in the second Aston was now
11th while the Williams drivers were now 17th and 19th. Magnussen was now
seventh but team-mate Schumacher was down in 14th. Joining the Williams
drivers at the back of the order was the Alpine cars who were 16th and 18th.
The drivers would again be given the opportunity to complete practice starts
on the grid with the end of the session. The final order was Verstappen,
Leclerc, Perez, Russell, Sainz, Hamilton, Magnussen, Bottas, Zhou, and
Stroll in tenth. The Williams pair would finish in a repeat of Fridays woes
down the order in 17th and 19th.
Nicholas Latifi:
Nicholas would follow Alex out also using the soft tyre. Nicholas would set
a 1m:35.961 to be 11th just behind his team-mate. This would become 12th as
he pitted after a three lap run. He would return on used soft tyres to
complete two laps. Nicholas would return for a second new soft tyre run. He
would improve with a 1m:35.667 but remained 12th. He would drop to 17th
having pitted after a three lap run. As the session ended he saw himself
drop to 19th. Nicholas would return to complete a
practice start.
Alex Albon:
Alex would be the first Williams running in the session using the soft tyre.
He would set a 1m:35.805 to be eighth. He wou7ld drop to 11th pitting after
a three lap run. He would like his team-mate return on used soft tyres
completing an additional three laps. Alex would quickly return again on the
soft tyre. A 1m:34.868 would see Alex now tenth. He would drop to 13th as
others completed soft tyre runs. He would drop to 15th after a three lap
run. This woukld be 17th as the session ended. Alex would return to complete a practice start. |
