Team Summary:
With the start of the opening Friday practice for the 20921 Hungarian Grand
Prix there would be a rush of lap times and it would be Verstappen quickest
with a 1m:19.725 followed by Gasly and Leclerc. Both Williams d rivers had
completed single installation laps pitting after a one lap. Norris would
move into second ahead of Gasly. Hamilton on the hard tyre would move into
second followed by Bottas with ten minutes completed. Both Williams drivers
would return one on the medium and the other the hard. Leclerc was fourth
followed by Alonso, Sainz, Norris and Tsunoda eighth. The top six cars had
all been running on the hard tyre. Gasly would improve to be third but this
would become fourth as Bottas moved into second.
With fifteen minutes completed the order was Verstappen, Bottas, Norris,
Hamilton, Leclerc, Gasly, Alonso, Sainz, Tsunoda, and Ricciardo tenth.
Alonso had spun his car but was able to return to his pit. After their first
runs the Williams pair were 12th and 13th. But this would change to be 12th
and 14th. Bottas would be the first out on the soft tyre. Ocon has moved
into second behind Verstappen. Hamilton was also out on the soft tyre.
Bottas would set a 1m:17.616 to move to the top of the times as we had more
drivers out on the soft tyre. As more soft tyre times were set Hamilton was
now second followed by Gasly, Alonso, Tsunoda, and Verstappen now sixth but
yet to set a soft tyre time. The Williams drivers weer both back out on the
medium tyre with twenty five minutes remaining. They were currently 13th and
14th.
On the soft Sainz was now third followed by Gasly, Alonso, and Leclerc all
on the soft tyre. Just under twenty minutes remaining and the Williams pair
were 13th and 14th. Tsunoda would crash his car seeing the session Red
Flagged in order to recover his damaged car. With the restart of the session
both Williams cars would be out running with ten minutes remaining. Ocon on
the soft was now tenth while Verstappen would go quickest with a 1m:17.555.
Stroll on the soft was now ninth seeing the Williams pair 15th and 16th as
Vettel moved into 12th. As the session drew to a close the order was
Verstappen, Bottas, Hamilton, Sainz, Gasly, Alonso, Leclerc, Perez, Norris
and Stroll in tenth.
With the end of the session the top ten would remain the same while for
Williams they would remain 15th and 16th with George only 0.1s ahead of
Nicholas. Neither driver would complete a soft tyre run so their times were
not really comparable to those in front. So will be interesting to see how
they fare in the next session.
George Russell:
George would complete a single install lap using the medium tyre. Ten
minutes into the session George would return on the hard tyre. A 1m:21.876
from George would see him 14th and with a 1m:20.844 he would be 13th. George
would pit after a five lap run. But he would quickly return still on the
hard and would set a 1m:20.506 to be 12th pitting after a three lap run.
George would again return with just under thirty minutes remaining this time
on the hard. He was currently 14th. He would pit after a three lap run
quickly returning. He was now 15th but a 1m:19.724 would see him 13th. He
would again pit. With the session restart George would be back out on the
hard tyre. He would drop to 15th as the session drew to a close. He would
pit after an eight lap run on the hard tyre ending his session..
Nicholas Latifi:
Nicholas would complete a single install lap using the medium tyre. With
close to ten minutes of the session completed he would return still on the
medium tyre. A 1m:21.967 would see Nicholas 15th. He would improve with a
1m:20.779 to be 12th. Nicholas would pit after a six lap run. He would dropt
o 14th. Nicholas would return still on the medium tyre currently 15th. He
would set a 1m:20.237 to be 12th, dropping to 13th. A 1m:19.824 and Nicholas
was now 12th. He would drop to be 14th pitting after a seven lap run. In
communications with his engineer Nicholas would say "The car balance is
extremely poor right now" and with the restart was again back out on the
medium tyre. He would complete a nine lap run pitting with the end of the
