Team Summary:
The second hour long Thursday practice session would commence with both
Williams drivers out running on the medium tyre. The rush of drivers coming
out would follow suit with everyone on the medium except Sainz who was on
the hard. Sainz was the early quickest with a 1m:14.997 followed by Norris
and Bottas. But Verstappen would move to the top f the times with a
1m:13.961 followed by Gasly. Leclerc and Sainz. Perez would move in to
second but Hamilton would move ahead and into second. The Williams drivers
were currently 14th and 18th. But the pair would both pit seeing themselves
currently in 17th and 18th.
Hamilton was able to move to the head of the times with a 1m:12.772 from
Verstappen and Perez. But Bottas would move into second seeing the Red
Bull's now third and fourth. Sainz was fifth followed by Leclerc, Gasly,
Norris, Raikkonen and Giovinazzi tenth. Verstappen would return to second
and Bottas third. After their stops both Williams drivers would return this
time on the soft tyre and they would improve to be ninth and 11th. More
rivers started to come out on the soft tyre. As the times came Sainz would
go quickest with a 1m:11.796 with Verstappen now second. Bottas was third
followed by Hamilton, Giovinazzi, Gasly, Perez, Raikkonen, Ocon and Nicholas
now tenth. Leclerc would improve to be fifth but Norris would take this
spot. For Williams they were currently 15th and 16th with just over twenty
minutes remaining.
Hamilton would move up to second followed by Verstappen and Leclerc. Leclerc
was able to set a 1m:11.684 to be quickest ahead of team-mate Sainz.
Hamilton was now third followed by Verstappen, Bottas, Norris, Gasly, Perez,
Giovinazzi, and Vettel now tenth. The Williams drivers were currently 16th
and 17th and out on the medium tyre. But the session would be Red Flagged
when Schumacher was to run wide at the top of the hill hitting the barrier
and breaking his rear suspension. He would try to return to the pits but
only got as far as the run off at the hairpin. The session would not restart
seeing Leclerc remain fastest from Sainz, Hamilton, Verstappen, Bottas,
Norris, Gasly, Perez, Giovinazzi and Vettel tenth. The end of the session
would see the Williams drivers remain in 16th and 17th in an uneventful if
not very fast session. A lot of work to do overnight I would think.
George Russell:
George would be first out in the second Thursday session running on the
medium tyre. A 1m:22.659 would see George third but quickly he would drop
down to be 16th. This would become 18th then would see himself 20th and
slowest. But George would seta 1m:15.114 seeing him move into 14th dropping
to 15th. He would pity after a six lap run. In the pits George would drop to
17th. George would also return now on the soft tyre. On his first lap George
would set a 1m:14.111 to be 11th two places behind his team-mate. George
would find a small amount of time with a 1m:14.048 but remained 11th. But
George would pull out a 1m:13.669 to be 9th. He would drop to 12th as the
session reached its half way. He would drop to 14th as he continued to lap
the circuit having currently completed 12 laps. A 1m:13.509 would see George
move up to 15th. George would pit after a 13 lap run. George would also come
out for a medium tyre run. With the end of the session George would pit
having completed ten laps on the medium tyre.
Nicholas Latifi:
Nicholas would follow his team-mate out in FP2 also using the medium tyre.
His first lap was a 1m:24.034 but this would see him drop down to be 17th.
He would improve with a 1m:19.570 to be currently 18th. Nicholas would
improve with a 1m:16.097 to be 13th but again would drop down the times
currently 15th. This would become 18th with only the Haas cars behind. But
as he put in more laps Nicholas would set a 1m:15.705 to be 16th. But as he
pitted he would have dropped to be 18th. With just under forty five minutes
remaining Nicholas would return this time on the soft tyre. Nicholas would
improve with a 1m:13.857 to be 9th. A 1m:13.731 from Nicholas but he
remained ninth. he would drop to 11th to be just ahead of George. Nicholas
would have what he described as a very weird pushing moment at the hairpin.
Nicholas would set a 1m:13.593 on used soft tyres to now be 10th. After a
ten lap run Nicholas would pit currently 12th having completed ten laps.
This would become 16th. For his next run Nicholas would return on the medium
tyre. With the end of the session Nicholas would complete 11 laps on the
medium tyre. |
