Team Summary:
The opening Friday practice session for the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix
would commence with a rush of drivers coming out also for the soft tyres for
their installations laps. Raikkonen would set a slow 2m:06.440 to be
currently quickest as we had both Ferrari's come out. After a series of
quickest times it would be Leclerc on the soft tyre fastest with a 1m:27.544
followed by Vettel and Albon. After their first runs the Williams drivers
were 14th and 15th. At the front Hamilton would go quickest with a 1m:26.842
followed by Bottas, Leclerc, Hulkenberg, Vettel, Albon, Norris, Gasly,
Stroll, and Ocon tenth. The Williams drivers were currently 14th and 16th
with Nicholas leading George. But this would become 14th and 15th with the
order reversed. Verstappen had yet to set a time with an issue with his car.
The track would empty with forty minutes of the session completed.
With forty five minutes remaining both Mercedes would return again on the
soft tyre. Bottas would move to the top of the times with a 1m:26.166.
Grosjean was now fifth on the soft tyre followed by Hulkenberg, Vettel,
Stroll and the two McLaren's. Hamilton had improved with a 1m:26.304 to be
second. The track was again becoming quite busy with Ricciardo moving into
14th seeing the Williams drivers currently 15th and 16th. At the front
Leclerc was still third followed by Albon, Vettel, Ocon, Gasly, and
Grosjean. Hulkenberg would jump up to be third but Verstappen would finally
set a time to move into this spot. After their seconds runs the Williams
drivers were 15th and 16th with George leading Nicholas.
With eighteen minutes remaining the track was now quite empty with just a
few cars running including both Mercedes. Both Williams drivers would return
for a further soft tyre run but would not improve as the session came to an
end. Bottas was fastest followed by Hamilton, Verstappen, Hulkenberg,
Leclerc, Albon, Vettel, Stroll, Kvyat, Stroll, and Ocon tenth. The Williams
drivers would finish in 15th and 16th finishing ahead of Ricciardo both Alfa
Romeo's and Magnussen. A reasonable start to the 70th Grand Prix weekend as
the team worked on assessing the soft tyre available for this race meeting.
George Russell:
George would come out for his installation lap using the soft tyres. George
would return with around an hour remaining and would set a 1m:29.4040 on the
soft tyre to be 13th. George would improve with a 1m:29.123 but remained
14th. He would drop to 16th but with a 1m:28.801 would move back up to be
14th. He would pit currently 15th after a seven lap run. George would be
told by his engineer that they would practice pit entry. George would return
again on the soft tyre and would improves with a 1m:28.170 to be 12th
dropping to 14th, this would become 15th. George would pit after a six lap
run. George would return again on the soft tyre. George would tell his
engineer that he had a vibration from the front brakes at Turn 16. He would
pit with the end of the session after a six lap run.
Nichols Latifi:
Nicholas would follow his team-mate out also using the soft tyre for his
instillation lap. Nicholas would return again on the soft tyre and would set
a 1m:29.451 to be 14th. Nicholas would improve with a 1m:29.057 to be 12th.
He would drop to 15th behind his team-mate. A 1m:28.634 would see Nicholas
move ahead of his team-mate to be 14th.Nicholas would pit with after a eight
lap run. he would return for a second soft tyre run and would fail to move
out of his current 17th. A 1m:28.226 would see Nicholas now 16th, just 0.056
behind his team-mate. Nicholas would pit after a seven lap run. with under
ten minutes remaining Nicholas was back out on the soft tyre. With the end
of the session he would complete a six lap run. |
