Team Summary:
With the start of the opening Friday practice session for the 2020 Hungarian
Grand Prix there would be the usual installation laps. Both Williams drivers
would complete theirs on the soft tyre. The first time would be set by
Verstappen with a 1m:19.440 on the hard tyre. Bottas would go quicker with a
1m:17.765 on the soft tyre. Hamilton also on the soft tyre would go quicker
with a 1m:17.438 but Bottas would go quicker again with a 1m:16.559. More
drivers were coming back out most using either hard or medium tyre,
including both Williams. The Williams drivers were currently 17th and 18th
but they both would improve with the pair now fourth and ninth with Nicholas
leading George. This would become fifth and 13th.
With forty minutes of the session completed the order would be Hamilton,
Bottas, Perez, Stroll, Nicholas, Leclerc, Verstappen, Vettel, Ocon and Sainz
in tenth. George was in 13th as with forty minutes remaining cars started to
return to the track. Both Racing Points were on the soft tyre and would
improve their times to both be in the 1m:16s with Perez ahead of Stroll.
Fifth was now Ricciardo followed by Vettel and Verstappen. The Williams
drivers now on their tyre evaluations splitting their tyres currently in
14th and 16th. On a hard tyre Hamilton would set a 1m:16.003 from Bottas on
the medium with a 1m:16.089.
Fifteen minutes remaining and drivers would start to come out for their
third runs. Vettel would comment on more rain at Turn four. The Williams
drivers were still on their tyre evaluations running on the medium and hard
tyre. The session would come to an end with the Williams drivers remaining
in 15th and 18th. The order was Hamilton from Bottas, Perez, Stroll,
Ricciardo, Vettel, Leclerc, Verstappen, and Norris tenth. For the Williams
Racing Team the session would produce a surprise result with Nicholas
finishing ahead of George in their soft tyre runs. Overall it was
encouraging to again see the Williams drivers mixing it with the likes of
Haas, Alfa Romeo and even AlphaTauri.
George Russell:
George was first out for the Williams Team running on the soft tyre for his
installation lap. With twenty minutes completed George would return on the
soft tyre. A 1n:21.085 from George to be 12th dropping to 14th. this would
become 17th as more times were set. But George would improve with a
1m:19.267 to be 13th dropping to 16th. But George would find time to seta
1m:18.730 to be fifth dropping to seventh. This would become tenth as George
pitted. He would drop to 15th. His next run would be on the hard tyre as he
dropped to 16th. As he lapped he would drop to 18th. George would comment on
how bad the traffic was. He would pit after a nine lap run. George was again
back out again on the hard tyre. George would pit after a nine lap run.
Nichols Latifi:
Nicholas would also come out running on the soft tyre for his installation
lap. Nicholas would follow his team-mate out for his timed runs also on the
soft tyre. Nicholas would set a 1m:21.422 to be 17th. Nicholas would find
time with a 1m:19.027 to be 10th dropping to 11th. This would become 12th as
he continued to lap the circuit. But Nicholas would seta 1m:18.175 to move
into third behind the Mercedes. This would become fourth as he pitted after
a seven lap run. In the pits he would drop to fifth. Nicholas would return
for a second run this time on the medium tyre. He would drop to tenth then
14th. A 1m:17.969 from Nicholas on the medium but he was now 15th. Nicholas
would also pit but with just over ten minutes remaining he would return
again on the medium tyre.He would compleet his runwith the end of the
