The 2019 Spanish GP would see the EROKiT Williams Team have what George Russell would describe as a standard Grand Prix with their pace been considerably slower than those who finished in front of them. The race woul dsee George Russell finish ahead of team-mate Robert Kubica with the pair coming home in 17th and 18th. Both drivers would have staright forward races but still suffered from the lack of pace from the FW42.

The grid for the 2019 Spanish GP would have quite a few changes when compared to qualifying. For Williams George Russell had received a five place grid penalty for a gearbox change which should have seen him start from 20th. But Giovinazzi would also receive the same penalty while Hulkenberg would receive a penalty that would see him start from the pit lane. So Robert Kubica and George Russell would start from 17th and 19th. On pole would be Bottas with team-mate Hamilton second. They would be followed by Vettel, Verstappen, Leclerc, Gasly, Grosjean, Magnussen, Kvyat and Norris tenth. The top ten drivers would all start on used soft tyres while outside this the Williams drivers would start on the medium along with Raikkonen, Stroll and Hulkenberg.

The grid would form and with the start it would be Bottas and Hamilton with Vettel joining in going into the first corner. Hamilton was able to take the lead from Bottas and now Verstappen. Robert and George were running in 18th and 19th. The Ferrari's at the start had fallen over each other and they were in fourth and fifth. Lap four and Hamilton was leading by 1.5s over Bottas. The Williams drivers were running close together but George would be passed by Raikkonen. Robert would also be passed by the Alfa Romeo seeing them now 19th and 20th. Lap eight and Giovinazzi would pit changing to the hard tyre. He would return in last position seeing Robert and George 18th and 19th but running close together.

George would pass Robert on lap twelve seeing an improvement in pace from the rookie. Robert would drop away from George with fourteen laps completed. At the front Hamilton was leading comfortably by 3.4s from Bottas. Leclerc had been allowed to pass Vettel now running fourth. Both Williams drivers would go a lap down on lap twenty one. Vettel would pit on lap twenty one but there was an issue with the left rear. He would come back out in tenth running on the medium tyre. Verstappen had pitted and taken on new soft tyres returning in fifth. The order was now Hamilton, Bottas, Leclerc, Verstappen, Grosjean, and Magnussen sixth. Gasly had pitted changing to the medium tyre returning in ninth just ahead of Sainz.

Lap twenty five and the Williams drivers were 19th and 20th. Others including Kvyat and Magnussen had pitted with the pair 15th and 14th. Leclerc would pit on lap twenty seven changing to the hard tyre and back out in fifth ahead of Vettel in sixth. Bottas would pit on lap twenty eight changing to the medium returning in second. Grosjean and Norris would pit both changing to the medium. Lap twenty nine and Hamilton would pit changing also to the medium. The top ten was now Hamilton, Bottas, Verstappen, Leclerc, Vettel, Gasly, Grosjean, Hulkenberg, Magnussen and Kvyat. Robert and George would pit on laps thirty five and six switching to the soft tyer for the run to the finish. With the pit stop Robert would go two laps down.

On lap forty six there would be a coming together between Stroll and Norris that would see Stroll go off into the barrier at Turn two. Norris would stop with suspension damage. This would see a rush of drivers coming into change tyres and the accident had resulted in a Safety Car. Both Williams drivers had pitted switching to new medium tyres. The order was now Hamilton and Bottas, both now on the soft tyre, followed by Verstappen, Vettel, Leclerc, who had changed to the medium, and Gasly sixth. The Williams drivers were now running in 17th and 18th. The race would restart and Hamilton would open out a lead over Bottas. The Williams drivers continued to struggle running at the rear of the field. The race would continue like this till the end with Hamilton taking victory from Bottas and Verstappen. For Williams it was a race that was very much a repeat of those before it.
