The opening Friday practice for the 2016 Bahrain GP would be an uneventful session for the Williams Martini team. At the end of the session Felipe Massa would finish in 10th while team-mate Valtteri Bottas was 12th. Both drivers would only use the soft tyre during the session which basically saw them complete two longer runs on this tyre. Quickest in the session was Rosberg.
