The second Friday practice session for the 2011 Korean Grand Prix would again see the AT&T Williams team having to contend with wet conditions. Even though the rain had eased seeing the drivers run on intermediates the Williams team was not able to collect any dry tyre data. Rubens Barrichello and Pastor Maldonado would finish in 13th and 18th.

At the Yeongam circuit the weather would have improved with the heavy rain having stopped, but there was still light rain falling. For the AT&T Williams F1 team they would be looking for a dry session in which they could continue their set-up work. This session would see the return of Alguersuari, Liuzzi, and Trulli to their respective teams after having sat out the opening Friday practice session. The light rain that was falling was expected to continue for twenty five minutes. With their lack of track time it was expected that the drivers would quickly take to the track. First out would be Alguersuari followed by several other drivers. Pastor Maldonado would be first out for Williams with Rubens Barrichello following him shortly after. The track was now very busy with only a handful of drivers yet to come out. Hamilton would return to his pit as the drivers started their timed laps. The intermediate tyre was the tyre of choice in the early part of the session.

In the pits were both of the Mercedes cars and Massa and Perez. Rosberg would be next out as Alguersuari set a 2m:00.237 to be followed by Kovalainen and Buemi. Pastor would go fastest with a 2m:00.067 but he would be passed by Petrov with a 1m:58.993. Button was now second from Pastor and Alguersuari. But quickly it would be Vettel and Webber who would be first and second. Vettel's time was a 1m:56.604 and Webber a 1m:56.634. But Buemi would move ahead with a 1m:55.305 as the track conditions improved. Kobayashi had pitted as we had Button go fastest with a 1m:54.447. But Vettel would take this spot with a 1m:54.340. Rubens was now in eighth with a 1m:57.130 and Pastor twelfth. They would both drop down a place as other drivers went fastest. Vettel was fastest from Button, Webber, Buemi, Alguersuari, Sutil, Rosberg, Alonso, Petrov, and Rubens now in tenth. Pastor had dropped to sixteenth. Hamilton was now back out with Hamilton, Massa, and Schumacher yet to set a time.

Buemi was now fastest with a 1m:54.063 with ten minutes of the session run. Both Vettel and Button would move ahead of Buemi with Button fastest with a 1m:52.664. Vettel's time was a 1m:53.592. Hamilton would move up to third with a 1m:54.022. Rubens would improve with a 1m:56.153 but remained tenth. Pastor was now fifteenth with a 1m:57.916. Buemi was now fourth from Webber, Rosberg, Alguersuari, Alonso, Sutil, Petrov, and Rubens in eleventh. Pastor would finish his first run and would pit while at the front Hamilton would go fastest with a 1m:52.659. But team-mate Button would move ahead with a 1m:51.798. Rubens had pitted as Massa moved up to thirteenth, 1m:56.417. Schumacher was now eleventh seeing Rubens drop to twelfth. Webber would pit as Pastor dropped to eighteenth. Button would improve his time with a 1m:51.334 to remain fastest. Alonso was now in fifth, 1m:53.887, as Hamilton went fastest with a 1m:51.189. Schumacher was in tenth with a 1m:55.161. Button would also pit with twenty minutes of the session completed.

Vettel would also come in while Pastor had come back out for his second run. Rubens would also come back out with Pastor now twentieth and Rubens fourteenth. Hamilton would improve with a 1m:50.828 remaining fastest. Buemi and Alguersuari were now sixth and seventh as Pastor started his next timed lap. Hamilton would pit as Massa would run wide at Turn eleven. Pastor was now in seventeenth with a 1m:56.645 and Rubens had dropped to fifteenth, 1m:56.153. Button and Webber were back out on the track as we now had Sutil and Di Resta tenth and eleventh. Rubens would improve with a 1m:55.428 to be fourteenth. Pastor would move up to sixteenth with a 1m:56.067, but was 1.2 seconds behind his team-mate. Vettel was back out with an hour remaining. Rosberg was in eighth, 1m:54.539, as Pastor pitted. Button would set a 1m:50.932 but remained second. Rubens and Pastor were now in fifteenth and sixteenth. Pastor was still in his pit as Alguersuari moved up to fourth with a 1m:53.438. Rubens was now back in the pits with Button following him in.

Alguersuari would improve by 0.036s but would remain fourth, 1m:53.402. But Webber would move ahead and back into fourth with a 1m:52.251. Pastor was back out with fifty minutes remaining. Rubens was in his pit still in his car as Hamilton ran wide at Turn three. On his next lap Hamilton would be on a quick lap as Webber improved with a 1m:53.085. Hamilton would back off seeing no improvement. Alonso was now in sixth from Rosberg, Buemi, Massa, and Sutil in tenth. Rubens was back out on the track while Hamilton would pit followed by Vettel. It was still not dry enough to change to the dry tyre. Webber had also pitted while for Williams Pastor would complete his run and return to the pits. Alonso was now fifth with a 1m:53.158. On his next lap would would improve with a 1m:52.774 to be third. Vettel was back out with thirty five minutes remaining. Alonso would pit while at
Williams Rubens was also back in his pit. Rubens was in fifteenth while Pastor was back in eighteenth. Webber was also back out as Vettel moved up to third again with a 1m:52.735.

Pastor continued on a longer run as Hamilton returned to the track. Rosberg would damage his car after having hit the Torro Rosso of Alguersuari as the Spaniard came out of the pits. Rosberg had ran wide at Turn one seeing him run into the Torro Rosso damaging his front wing seeing it pushed back under his right front wheel. Alguersuari was an innocent victim in this incident. While all this was happening Pastor would pit and Rubens would come back out with twenty minutes remaining. Rosberg had parked his carat Turn two seeing his session come to an end. Rubens would also have a moment at Turn one just stopping his car from running wide. With thirteen minutes remaining Hamilton was still fastest from Button, Vettel, Alonso, Webber, Alguersuari, Rosberg, Buemi, Massa, and Petrov in tenth. Rubens and Pastor were still in sixteenth and eighteenth. It was unlikely that any dry weather tyre times would be set. Button was back out with under ten minutes remaining. Rubens was now in thirteenth with a time of 1m:54.831. Vettel had pitted while for Force India Di Resta moved up to tenth, 1m:53.957.

Alguersuari was back out again trying to run on the super soft tyre. Hamilton would also come out on the dry tyre with five minutes remaining. Buemi was also out on the super soft tyre but he would spin. As the session drew to a close more drivers were back out trying to dry tyre. Webber was one of these drivers and he was driving very slowly with it really looking like the conditions were not ready for the slicks. Hamilton would pit while Button also took things very slowly running on the super soft tyre. He would also pit complaining that he could not get any heat into his tyres. Rubens had pitted still in thirteenth, while Pastor was still down in eighteenth. The session would end with Hamilton and Button still first and second.

For the AT&T Williams team the session would see both drivers complete all their running on the intermediate tyre. If Saturday is dry the team will have no data collected on either of the dry tyres, which may make set-up decisions difficult.
