On the second
day of testing for the AT&T Williams team at the Valencia circuit Rubens
Barrichello returned to the cockpit. On a clear and bright day with temperatures averaging the 11°C mark, Rubens started
the session with more set-up work and systems checks on the FW32 before completing a
series of long runs in the afternoon. Rubens would finish with a time of
1m:13.377 having completed 102 laps.
Nico
Hulkenberg will take over testing duties tomorrow for his first test as a Formula
One race driver.
Sam Michael, Technical Director:
"Today we spent the session doing some long runs and more set-up work on the
new Bridgestone tyres. We had some minor electronic problems, but it was
generally a good session for us. Rubens has now completed his two day stint
so we are now working on setting up the car ahead of Nico’s first day
tomorrow."
Rubens Barrichello:
"It was a good two days for us. We’ve improved the car a lot over that time
by playing with the set-up and we’ve neutralised the understeer we had
yesterday. There’s obviously still lots to learn because the cars are very
different to last year, but I’m reasonably happy with how we’re doing so
far. You can’t conclude much from this test in terms of where everyone is
because the fuel cell has such a wide range, and I think it will continue to
be that way until we get to the first race when everyone will be on low
fuel. Until that time, we will have to work
hard and do our homework." |
