01:12:2009 Day One
The AT&T
Williams team would return to the track with Formula Two champion Andy
Soucek completing the days testing. His time behind the wheel was as a
result of his championship victory.
The
young Spaniard would finish the day with the fastest time, 1m:19.158,
despite having a spin in the afternoon at the Michelin that would see the
red flags come out. Soucek would put in an impressive appearance setting the
fastest time in the first hour and to remain in the top four for the rest of
the day.
He would complete an impressive eighty seven laps during the day, a day that
was designed for drivers with less than three official Formula one events
allowed to drive. As such it was very much a day for young drivers.
Soucek would
wear a helmet design that was based on the Williams teams colours. "I had
forgotten just how fast these cars are," the Spaniard said.
