After arriving to the German Grand Prix later than expected thanks to a delay in his flight Rubens Barrichello was quickly taken to by the media who seemed to more than surprised that the Brazilian has been given the spare car this weekend. But Barrichello did not feel this was a surprise and stated that both he and Michael Schumacher are given all the support they have needed this season.

“There has always been one priority and that is the team,” said Rubens. “I have always had all the support possible, both technical and moral. It’s clear that now, for the last few races, without the pressure of the championship, both me and Michael should be able to enjoy ourselves a bit more.”

His painful memories of the French GP in which he failed to get off the starting grid appear to be easing as once again he is questioned about that weekend. Barrichello was keen to forget about his problems instead focusing on the delight of Michael Schumacher taking the 2002 world championship.

“Of course I was unhappy after not starting. I had left to go and fly to Portugal as I wanted to spend some time with my family, especially my sister who was going back to Brazil on Monday,” continued Rubens. “However, when I knew Michael had won, I had to go back and a bad weekend was transformed into a fantastic day, because it was great for Michael and the team and therefore for me.”
